How the ICCRC Controls the Work of Its Consultants

When it comes to the topic of immigration, the two most notable players are the regulatory board and the consultants. A Canada PR Consultant helps aspiring immigrants to follow all the procedures that would help them legally move to Canada. These particular rules are mandated by the national regulatory board, Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council.

Thus, the two factors are inter-related in many ways, mainly that these consultants are under the control of the board. There are various other factors too that the board focuses on, in the scope of the duties and programs related to the consultants.

  1. Administering the Examination

First and foremost, the main aspect that determines who gets to be a consultant occurs through the examination. This entry-to-practice examination called Full Skills Exam (FSE) is conducted under the guidance of the ICCRC. The questions and procedures related to the examination are board-certified.

Thus, the influence of the board on the consultants is visible and essential in the early stages itself.

  1. Checking if the Consultants are following the guidelines

Another way that this regulatory board manages its consultants is through its very guidelines. To be precise, the rules and regulations related to the procedure of immigration are decided by the regulatory board of Canada. Subsequently, the duties that these consultants have towards their prospective clients are dictated by these regulations. These immigration consultants must follow them accordingly to make the process legally binding under Canadian Immigration Laws.

Therefore, a major duty of the ICCRC towards their consultants is to make sure that they are following the regulations. They also check to see if the documents that the immigrants have provided are correct and acceptable. For these purposes, the board carries out a Compliance Audit regarding these immigration agents and their work performance.

  1. Immigration Practitioner Programs

In order to be an immigration consultant, many courses are available today that train the applicants to be better prepared for the examination. Many institutes in Canada offer these Immigration Practitioner Programs (IPPs) to those interested in pursuing a career in this field.

However, before these programs can begin their operation, the ICCRC verifies their course structure and decides if they are appropriate. Furthermore, they also give recognition to new institutes and programs if they fit their mandate.

  1. Practice Management Education

The board also looks into the matter of proving the PME (Practice Management Education) Courses to the practitioners. It is to ensure that they are running a reliable practice. Also, these courses aim to provide the consultants with the necessary resources, tools, and education to work effectively.

  1. Updating the consultants regarding changes in procedure

Of course, with the changing times, there occur changes in the curriculum as well. With the shifting rules and different requirements, the board is bound to update the regulations or add new addendums. However, sometimes a Canada PR Consultant is not aware of this and submits the immigration papers of their clients following previous guidelines. Because of this, the board organizes and monitors the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to ensure that the consultants stay updated.

  1. Code of Professional Ethics

Another function that the board plays in the work-life of the consultants is by creating the Code of Professional Ethics. The rules under this are mandatory and expected to ensure that no unprofessional conduct is carried out with the clients.

All in all, there are many ways that the immigration board controls the consultants. Their education, duties, and mannerism all fall under the ICCRC jurisdiction.
