summer solstice

Summer solstice is an astronomical event, celebrated twice a year: Once in Northern Hemisphere and once in the Southern Hemisphere. The dates for northern hemisphere may be between June 20 to 22 and for southern hemipshere may be between Dec 20 to 22. Summer solstice happens due to the tilt of earth towards Sun. At specific angle the Sun rays directly hit the respective hemisphere of the earth and at that time the sun is furthest from earth. This makes the longest day to happen on the part of earth. In another words sun stays for the logest in the sky befor sun set.

Summer solstice 2020 is on June 20 this year in Northern hemipshere. Astronomically summer starts from the day onwards. Days get warmer and shorter day by day till Winter solstice. People around the globe celebrate this day. As it is celebrated in many ancient civilizations. Normads, Neoliths, Druids etc many old nations celebrated this day with zest and zeal. As many believed it to be energetic and powerfull day, many started their calendars like start of crops season, may predicted upcoming floods in the rivers and many more celebrated spirits to bring good luck.

Today, Many around celebrate this day with an amalgamation of both old and new ways. Newer ways include music, dance, feasts, gatherings, bonfires (old way too), picnics etc. Crowd from all over gather at Stonehnege to look at rising sun. Secret solstice festival Reykjavik is one of its on earth. Allthough everyone tries to enjoy and celebrate the longest day of the year. Yogis gather to perform yoga through out the day. So in short, it brings happiness, energy, will, creativity, prosperity for all for the rest of the year.

Be part of a celebration this year. Hopefully we all will defeat Corona by then. And don't worry "Hard times are there to show us a lesson, they will end soon" With this Slogan be positive and stay safe and stay home...
