Signs of Tire Trouble to Watch For

Posted by Wheel on March 27th, 2020

When you find yourself driving a lot, you're going to end up putting a large strain on your tires over time. Proper maintenance can go a long way toward keeping your tires in good shape, but even when you keep up to date on your maintenance, it's possible that road hazards caused by debris can cause a real issue with your tires.

Your tires are made to withstand running over certain items, but going over the wrong thing can make you grateful to have Audi tire and wheel protection available. Here are a few signs that your tires need attention!

Bulges on the Tire

If you've got a bubble on your tire at any time, there's no question that it's time to have your tires serviced. A bubble on the tire is a weak spot that could lead to a puncture, and even if it doesn't, you're going to be placing extra stress and wear on your tires because your ride won't be as even as it should be. When you drive with one tire out of alignment with the others, you're going to cause the other three to wear down faster than they otherwise would. When the best case scenario is that something's going to be unusable faster than it should be, that's a sign that you need to address the situation right away.

Vibration on the Road

If you live in an area with rougher roads, this might be tougher to pick up on. But if you're driving a freshly paved road that you know is usually smooth, vibrations from your vehicle are a sign that you've got a problem. Tires vibrating mean that there's some kind of problem with your wheels or your tires, which could be anything from tire damage to a bent or misaligned wheel. If you notice vibration happening on a road that isn't known for being bumpy or full of potholes, it's a good idea to get things checked out as soon as possible to prevent further problems.

Worn Tire Tread

If your tire tread has a depth of less than 1/16", you need to get your tires replaced as soon as you can. Your tires need to have at least that much tread in order to properly grip the road. If your tread wears down below that, you can have a real problem finding traction in wet, stormy weather. As soon as you notice your tread wearing down, it's time to look for new tires.

When you have tire problems, they're usually not going to be cheap to fix on your own. That's one reason why you should always carry Audi tire and wheel protection on your vehicle: when you have it, fixing an issue and staying safe is as easy as making an appointment!
