Modern soldiers need various gears to lighten the load on them

If you visit a museum and try and lift one of the battle axes or swords the soldiers used once upon a time (provided you are allowed to) you would need considerable strength and effort to pick them up. Then there would be the armors, weighing quite a few pounds. And you would wonder how a soldier would fight a battle with such heavy weaponry and armor. But those soldiers have immense strength and this is why they could inflict deathly damages with one blow. With time the weaponry changed and the modern soldier carries a much lighter load. But the load has come down in the recent years because there was a need to lighten the load on a soldier. Thanks to modern gears like thermal night vision the weight has indeed come down on soldiers.

Until recently soldiers had to carry upward of 100 pounds as they went to battle. Imagine negotiating the tough and mountainous terrains of Afghanistan with 100 pounds of weight on someone’s back. And then the soldiers cannot just forget everything else. They need to on the constant lookout for dangers lurking from every corner. One moment of lowered guard and a life could be lost. The advisors to the US army have been stressing on this point for quite some time now and the result is the invention of modern gears for warfare that are considerably lighter in load. Today a soldier carries as less as 24 pounds than what they carried a few years ago.

But has the army command done enough to lighten the load on our soldiers? It hasn’t because each and every soldier still carries as much 30 pounds more than what the guidelines say. But yes, constant work is going on to ensure that the load is lightened as much as possible. The thermal night vision is one such gear that has contributed to lowering the load on the soldiers.

The great part of the thermal night vision is that it can work 24 hours a day. Modern soldiers also have access to eye squared technology. This technology is useful during night when the soldiers need proper vision and the thermal vision ensures that they can use advanced viewing during the day as well. The combination of both of these ensures that the soldiers are always ready for the enemy lurking from all over the place.

The biggest advantage of the thermal night vision is that it is extremely sensitive to low light. It has high resolution and enhances imaging through identification and recognition. And it can also identify people. Thanks to modern technology the weight of these gears has come down a bit and with the weights of other gears also coming down the overall mission to lighten the load on a soldier has been successful to an extent.

Thermal night vision can not only lighten the load on soldiers but also helps them battle better. Further work is going on and more is going to come soon.

Thermal night vision is just one of the ways modern army gear can lighten the load for our soldiers.
