What should you Avoid while Using PureVision Contact Lenses?

PureVision contact lenses and Acuvue contact lenses are two of the leading contact lenses on the market today. There are other brands such as Bausch and Lomb, Johnson and Johnson and many others that customers can choose from. While most of the transparent contact lenses are used for correcting various visual defects, coloured lenses are used for cosmetic purposes. These lenses are used not just by adults, but by children as well. However, irrespective of the person using them and the type of lens, it is imperative to avoid certain circumstances.

You should avoid applying makeup before inserting PureVision contact lenses. Makeup products leave behind a residue that can be harmful to the eyes. If you insert the Acuvue lens after applying the makeup, this residue can enter the eyes and lead to eye infections. Since certain makeup ingredients are carcinogenic in nature, it has the potential to cause a lot of harm. The best thing is to insert the lens carefully into the eye and then go ahead with using the eye shadow and other makeup products. Even while removing the lenses from the eyes, ensure you take out the lenses before using make up remover products.

Another point to consider while using PureVision contact lenses is only touching them after your hands have been washed thoroughly. There is no easier way to transfer germs and other contaminants onto the lens than by handling them with dirty hands. The work that we do on a daily basis results in the accumulation of fine dust and dirt, in addition to germs on the surface of the skin. These contaminants can pose a great risk when they reach the eyes. Therefore, wash your hands and dry them properly before you reach out to your lens case.

The next thing to avoid while using Acuvue contact lenses is wearing them when you are experiencing any eye irritations or swollen eyes. More often than not, people tend to ignore the eye infection they are suffering from and give prominence to good looks. They end up using contact lenses despite of the risks involved, even though this can increase the infection and cause irreparable damage that may result in loss of sight. If your eyes are red and you do not know the actual cause for it, always visit an ophthalmologist to rule out infection before using the contact lenses.

Whether you use the Acuvue lenses or the PureVision contact lenses, you have to avoid going to bed with them on. Remember, these are reusable contact lenses and not extended wear contact lenses. Using them all through the day and night can cause dryness and irritation to the eyes. Therefore, remove them carefully and store them in the right lens holder after rinsing them clean. The next day, before you reuse the lens, gently remove them and clean them using a disinfectant solution before inserting them into the eyes. Remember not to use the contact lenses for a longer duration than specified on the box.
