What to think of before visiting a VR arcade

Hygiene in corona times
During these times, hygiene is particularly important. Most arcades now offer masks and sanitize the headsets with alcohol after every visitor. The contact surface on most headsets are made of non-absorbing faux leather that is then disinfected after each use.
Motion sickness used to be a big problem in Virtual Reality. In the early 90’s pretty much everyone got motion sickness after a while. The technology has improved however and now is does not happen due to a lack of poor technology but instead as a result of how our brains perceive reality. Let me explain: In VR, nausea or motion sickness appear only when your eyes experience movement but the body still feels it is standing still. Because of this, we offer very few games that produces this effect and therefore almost no one gets ill at our place. If someone insists on playing one of these games that can result in motion sickness, we are always very careful to warn them beforehand.
It is usually fine to use eye glasses underneath most headsets. Only if the frames of the glasses are unusually bulky can it cause a problem. I have almost never seen this happen though.
Every arcade has their own rules, the minimum age at our place is 8 years old. We also expect the parents to keep their children under supervision. If the child were to break something due to reckless behaviour, the accompanying adult would have to pay the repair costs, which unfortunately, often isn’t cheap. If the child has aggressive tendencies or likes to throw things around, we do not recommend a visit to a VR arcade.
I hope this article has helped you in your decision on whether to visit an arcade or not. As you might have guesses I fully endorse. VR is an experience not be missed and I’m sure you and your company will have a terrific time. I particularly recommend the games Beat Saber, Arizona Sunshine and Half-Life.
If you visit Stockholm, please come by our place Stockholm VR Center, https://vr-center.se/welcome-to-stockholm-vr-center/ and I am sure you will have an enjoyable time.
