Why Using Van Bulkheads Is Recommended

The truth is that most people do not even know what van bulkheads are so it is quite obvious that they have no idea why they are so useful nowadays. In most cases people refer to van racks but it is not the same thing. The bulkhead is basically a partition that appears between the loading van area and the cab area. It appears with the purpose of offering extra security for the van that you are driving. There are basically 4 types of bulkheads you can use: grille, window, punched and solid.

Most people do not see how the bulkheads help and they are only focused on the use of van racks. The bulkheads are excellent as a deterrent against theft and are very solid. People that walk by the van, will not know what types of materials or tools are being transported and stored so there is basically no wish to try and break in. That is a huge advantage since we all know how expensive tools can be. Having a break in would basically mean thousands of dollars that you lose, especially when you do not have theft insurance coverage.

Some of the van bulkheads do have a small area that is punched or a window of small proportions. They can be useful since the view is limited and you can easily check and notice if a specific material or tool is available while still being able to use a rear view mirror. Security levels are still increased due to the added barrier. It is important to add here that if the van does not have rear glazing, you should think about adding window blanks or grills to stop load area access.

If your budget is really low, you can utilize wire mesh grille van bulkheads. The grilles will offer the necessary protective barrier that you need between cab and load areas and will not obscure too much of the view possible from outside. It is a good option for those that do not live the van out at night, that have a garage or for those that simply never leave the vehicle unsupervised.

In the event that you do not have a garage and most of the tools are inside the van, it is very important that you seriously consider the use of van bulkheads that are totally obscure. You never know when you will travel and leave the car unprotected and unsupervised just as you simply grab a cup of coffee. Thieves that are really good at what they are doing only need a few minutes to open a van and cause serious problems for you.

It is possible to buy a light commercial vehicle that already has van bulkheads fitted. However, the really big van usually does not have something like this and it is your responsibility to make sure that you protect the equipment that is transported. Do not be tempted to believe that you cannot be the victim of a thief sine that is something that happens when we least expect it. Stay protected and buy bulkheads!

The truth is that both van racks and van bulkheads are not as expensive as many believe. Just check out the links here and you will be able to find a really great offer you will appreciate.
