What Is the Difference between Orthotics and Prosthetics?

Human body is similar to a machine in which all the parts have to perform their specific function in order to make it work properly. In the body each body part and organs have their predetermined work which are controlled and organized by the brain. If you want to pick something, brain will read your desire in its parts and will send order in form of information to the muscles of the hand via various neurons and then the hand will go on to pick that thing. This process may sound to be a little time intensive but it is not at all. All this will happen in not more than a millisecond and without any lapse. Ortho in Greek means to straighten thus this equipment is used to straighten the bones of the spinal cord, legs, hands and ribs to improve the shape of the body. Prosthetics are the equipments which are used in place of missing limbs. If a person has lost a part like hand or leg due to accident or infection from an injury, resulting in amputation he can lead a normal life with orthopedic prosthetics.
