President Barack Obama is going with Brittney Griner and Baylor to win back-to-back titles in the NCAA women's basketball tournament.

In his 2013 bracket, he has Baylor defeating Notre Dame in the April 9 final in New Orleans, a repeat of last year's NCAA title matchup.

The president also selected Connecticut and California to advance to the Final Four. Baylor features 6-foot-8 dunking sensation Griner, who Obama said has ''just been spectacular. ''

Griner's team is on a 30-game winning streak after an early loss to Stanford.

Obama's picks were announced on ESPN.

BASEBALL

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - The father of a 6-year-old victim of the Sandy Hook school shooting in Connecticut will throw the ceremonial first pitch before the Texas Rangers' home opener.

Robbie Parker is a longtime Rangers fan who grew up in North Texas. Parker's daughter Emilie was among 20 first-graders and six adults killed in the shootings in Newtown, Conn., on Dec. 14.

The Rangers said Robbie Parker will be accompanied by his wife Alissa and daughters Madeline and Samantha for the first-pitch ceremony April 5 before the game against the Los Angeles Angels

The Rangers said thousands of dollars have been donated by individuals in North Texas to Emilie's Fund, which assisted families of those impacted by the tragedy.

MIAMI (AP) - Major League Baseball has sued a now shuttered South Florida clinic and its operators, accusing them of scheming to provide banned performance-enhancing drugs to players.

The lawsuit in Miami-Dade Circuit Court seeks unspecified damages from Coral Gables anti-aging clinic Biogenesis of America and its operator, Anthony Bosch. Several other Bosch associates are named in the lawsuit.

MLB contends the clinic's operators solicited players to use banned substances knowing that would violate their contracts, specifically the drug prevention and treatment program that became effective in 2003. That program is part of baseball's collective bargaining agreement with players.

NFL

HOUSTON (AP) - Ed Reed knew right from the start of free agency that he wanted to play for the Texans and that his days in Baltimore were over.

The nine-time Pro Bowl safety signed a three-year, $15 million contract with Houston, adding championship experience to the Texans' defense and leaving the reigning Super Bowl champions without yet another of their cornerstone players.

Reed said Texans general manager Rick Smith called him on the first day of free agency and the Texans were his first choice from that point on.

Reed played his first 11 NFL seasons with the Ravens.

PISTORIUS SHOOTING

JOHANNESBURG (AP) - Oscar Pistorius' appeal against his bail conditions will be heard on the same day his older brother Carl is due in another court to stand trial for culpable homicide.

The double-amputee Olympic athlete's legal team will challenge some of his bail conditions at the High Court in Pretoria on Thursday, the family lawyer told The Associated Press. Carl's trial is set for Wednesday and Thursday next week in a court south of Johannesburg, lawyer and prosecutors said.

The concurrent cases will thrust the family into another media frenzy, even if multiple Paralympic champion Oscar - charged with murder in the shooting death of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp last month - is not required to appear at his bail appeal.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - NBC plans to air excerpts of jailhouse interviews with former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky next week that were given to a documentary filmmaker.

The network said in the segment, to be broadcast Monday on the ''Today'' show, the convicted sex offender will give his account of the encounters that landed him in prison and discuss his former boss Joe Paterno, who was accused in a university-funded investigation of covering up allegations against Sandusky in a bid to preserve the football program's reputation.

Sandusky, 69, is serving a 30- to 60-year prison term after being convicted in June of 45 counts of child sexual abuse of 10 boys, including violent attacks inside campus athletic facilities.

SOCCER

LONDON (AP) - Qatar organizers are pushing ahead with plans to hold the 2022 World Cup in the summer, although they're willing to host in the winter.

UEFA President Michel Platini has led calls to play the tournament in the cooler winter months. FIFA's ruling body also could move the dates because of medical concerns about the desert heat.

FIFA President Sepp Blatter said Qatar would have to request a shift to winter - and the organizers responded that they are ''committed to delivering on the promises we made to FIFA'' before winning the vote in 2010. Air-conditioned stadiums to beat the 122-degree heat in June and July were a defining theme of Qatar's campaign to take the World Cup to the Middle East for the first time.
