There are so many beautiful sites to see in Florence.  Trying to plan squeezing in all the Florence attractions can be overwhelming.  However, there are many different ways to help you see the sites without feeling like you are rushing.  Vacations are a time to slow down and enjoy yourself.

Florence day trips can be mapped out easily.  You can schedule something with a local company to do the work for you.  But you may end up seeing sites that do not really interested you.  It can be more enjoyable to get a little knowledge of the area and map the trip out yourself.

Some of the more common Florence day trips are to places like Pisa, Chianti, Lucca, Maremma, or one of the many gorgeous hilltop towns.  Most of these places can be reached with a short car ride or train trip.  Walking from the train station to the towns is all part of the experience and can provide added culture to your adventure.

If you think about your interests, it will help you decide what to see in Florence each day.  Decide if you want to tour museums or botanical gardens, or simply walk around a piazza for an afternoon.  There are many gorgeous piazzas with sidewalk cafes to sip coffee and eat delicious Italian desserts.

One of the most famous piazzas is Piazza della Signoria.  It is home to Florence attractions like the Duomo, (cathedral), the Bell Tower, the Baptistery, and the Palazzo Vecchio.  It also serves as an outdoor art exhibit with many gorgeous sculptures and statues, including a replica of Michelangelo’s statue David.

Another place that houses many beautiful statues is the Boboli Gardens.  If you love lavish greenery with gorgeous architecture and sculpted art dotting the landscape, then this should be at the top of your list of what to see in Florence. It also has beautiful fountains decorating the grounds.

San Gimignano would make a wonderful place to take a Florence day trip.  It has been nicknamed the City of Beautiful Towers because of the fantastic medieval towers that sit on its hilltop. There is also a magnificent cathedral that has many frescoes gracing its interior and plenty of places to stop for lunch.

There are so many Florence attractions to see while on your trip.  It is best to do your research and decide some of the hot spots you want to see before you even leave for your trip.  Planning ahead will allow you a stress free vacation while ensuring that you are getting the most adventure in the time you spend in Florence.
