Music equipment ? effects pedals and instrument cables

Creating music is a true art.  No matter what kind of music you are creating, you will certainly need some music equipment.  You may have access to a studio with equipment that you can borrow, but if you are really serious about it, you will need to look into getting your own.  You can start out with some of the basics and work your way up.

Creating high quality music starts with high quality equipment.  If you have budget constraints, and let’s face it most people do, you may opt for lesser quality to start.  One of the things you shouldn’t skimp on at first is high quality instrument cables.  A lot of quality can be lost with the use of cheap cables.

Some music equipment can be found second hand.  Be careful with these purchases.  While you could be getting a great brand for very little money, you may be getting what you pay for.  Thoroughly test any used equipment before you purchase it from someone.  You may be purchasing someone else’s old junk.

Instrument cables should always be purchased new.  They are very much like computer cables.  You loose details when using old and broken down cables.  Tiny breaks in the internal wiring can make bits and pieces of the music distort or drop completely.  It does no service to your musical creations to use old cables.

When you are storing your equipment, do not wrap your instrument cables tightly.  It will cause the wires inside to sustain damage and over time they will stop working.  Gently coil them and lay them flat in your case.  If you take care of them, they will last a long time.

There are lots of other pieces of equipment you may be interested in.  Effects pedals for your guitar are an absolute must.  They provide a myriad of effects to change up your sound.  There are filters and distortion effects, and effects to change volume at will or add ambiance. The most common ambiance effects are echo and reverb.

You can certainly still play your guitar without effects pedals, but your sound will be flat and dry with little volume control.  The help make the end of your notes louder and smoother as they fade out.  If you really want to play guitar and just can’t afford one yet, you may want to consider working with an acoustic guitar until you can get one.

Other music equipment you will need are things like microphones, amps, mixers, power supplies, speakers, and cases.  Again, if you have a studio you work with, you can use theirs.  However, if you want to work on your music when you can’t access the studio, you will want to invest in some equipment that you can access whenever you feel the need.

ComStat Sound Company is passionate about all things music.  They carry a wide variety of equipment to create music, as well as play it in your venue.  They also install premium PA systems with state of the art equipment and superior wiring.
