After a busy week of stitching embroidery designs, my machine is in the shop getting a well-deserved cleaning and tune up. Generally, this is something I am quite capable of doing myself, but I feel that my embroidery machine is worth it right now. And, that computer module is well beyond my scope of talent. I’ll let the pros deal with it. Plus, my automatic threader needs some work. If I can’t see well enough to thread a needle, I honestly can’t see well enough to fix the doo-hicky that does it for me!

With my baby gone, my sewing table looks seriously empty, especially because I still haven’t found my smaller embroidery machine. This isn’t driving me as crazy as it was a couple of weeks ago, but I still find myself dwelling on it from time to time. It would be quite helpful to have it right now, whether I use it or not, because I’ve had access to machine embroidery at all times for the past ten years. I feel strangely lonely without it.

To keep myself sane, I’ll use the rare opportunity of a free work space to sort and organize my embroidery supplies. It will be much easier than having to do it on the floor or in the dining room with much bending and stooping or many trips back and forth from the back of the house to the front. Besides, my family has this odd idea that I am available to them if I happen to come out of my sewing room. Silly people!

Of course, I also spent some time browsing my favorite embroidery design gallery yesterday, which means I have some new embroidery patterns and a great new free embroidery design that I can’t wait to test. And, I probably should take some time to organize the designs already saved on my computer. Maybe make a few back-up discs so I don’t lose my lovelies.

And, I can always spend some time looking through my favorite designs to get some new project ideas for Spring and Summer. I’m going with a cottage theme in my new home, instead of the super modern theme at the last house, so I could use some new decorative ideas. I keep thinking about lots of free-standing lace. It’s so versatile throughout the home. Of course, I’d like to get started now, but without my embroidery machine, all I can do is dream.

Unfortunately, dreaming isn’t getting anything done. I think I’ll make a pact with myself that if I get my embroidery supplies organized I’ll allow myself to get some new thread for machine embroidery. There are some new metallic styles I’d like to try out.

Then again, maybe I should just call the machine shop every few minutes to see if my girl is ready to come home yet. They will either be so annoyed that they ignore me or they will just get her done faster to get me to leave them alone. Hmm. Nah. I’ll treat them right so they treat her right.

I might be a machine embroidery fanatic, but I can be patient … at least for a little while.
