Quirky Ideas to Improve Your Next Brochure

Posted by pixelo on May 29th, 2013

Customers are continually being bombarded with brochures and flyers on a regular basis. Why should they take time out of their busy schedule to go through yours when it seems just like everyone else's? So how can you distinguish your company brochures with that of others to persuade people to read it? Do take into consideration the following left-of-center ideas:

Make it a Magazine

People get attracted by magazines and love reading them especially when the brochure offers entertaining and useful information. So think of making your next brochure into a small version of a magazine.

Along with all the usual information think of adding some articles. However, the question here is - what do you write about? Think of articles that showcase how your company's products are useful and helpful in solving your prospect's problems.

A magazine-style brochure certainly helps to build the platform of trust and interest between the prospects and the company. By doing so, people will see your brochure again and again. This in turn, means that they are giving you their complete attention.

Make it a Keeper

Make sure that your brochure has useful and evergreen information so that it can be easily transformed into a "keeper" i.e. something that people will preserve and keep. The content of the brochure should be such that people should refer to it often and preferably pass on to other people.

For example, if you are into selling surfboards, you can include a local tide chart. If you are into house painting, you can help your prospects with color schemes or maintaining their walls. If you are into selling skin care products, you can give tips on how to get rid of dry skin, acne, and wrinkles. Other keeper ideas could include posters, calendars, playing cards, and puzzles.

Make it an Interesting Shape

It is certainly a myth that a brochure should be of a rectangular shape. Use your imagination to the maximum when designing your brochure and you can produce great results. Unusual brochure shapes are eye- catchy and demand attention. For instance, a cafe could shape their takeaway menu in the form of a sandwich. Tall and slim multi-panel brochures, mini-brochures printed on bookmarks, over-sized business cards... the options are endless.
