Ask someone in the field of six sigma what their ultimate aim is and there is one common theme that would emerge from their answers - "I want to become a six sigma master black belt holder." There is nothing wrong with this aspiration because if someone has to make it big in the six sigma field of work a master black belt is a certain requirement. In the six sigma world it’s best to start as a champion. The role of a champion is that of a team member. The champion is entrusted with the job of collecting data and analyzing it. The champion also needs to present findings to the other team members including the project sponsor. The next stage is to become a green belt where one is entrusted with leading small projects. As a project is completed the yellow belt is awarded and this is followed by brown and black belts. During this course of gradual progression one gathers the required experienced and it is then when someone should see how to get certified as a master black belt.
