How Silicone Rubber has changed the World

In the early days of the 1800s, silicone was first discovered by J.J. von Berzelius as an element and was first synthesised to pure silicone through an electrolysis smelting process by H.E. Saint-Claire Deville.  Later, during the 1800s Dr. F.S. Kipping laid down the foundation for the broad distribution of silicone products that we know use in today’s society. These early scientists and doctors were pioneers in the world of silicone rubber products, discovering the element and then later converting it into something that today’s society uses virtually every day, whether we realise it or not.

If you look around your home right now you will see many different applications in your house where silicone products are currently being used. It may be around the windows and door ways of your home to keep the cold air from coming in or it may be used in that new high definition television you are watching. It can also be readily found in your kitchen. You can find it in your refrigerator as it’s used to form a tight seal around the door. Or perhaps it’s found inside the lids of the containers that are keeping air from and moisture from spoiling your food.

Fast-forward into the 21st century and you will find that silicone products are now used worldwide.  Silicone products were used to recreate the face of a 10,000 year old woman that was discovered in North America. They have been used in space missions, to develop intelligent textiles, to absorb high impact collisions, and they are used in building materials to help keep us safe from terrorist attacks. The future of silicone rubber products is happening right now- changing the way the world works and the way people think.

No matter where you look in the world around us you will find a variety of different silicone rubber products being used to keep us safe and improve the quality of our lives. United Silicones has been manufacturing silicone products for decades now, creating a variety of different silicone products including tubing, seals, and many other products.  If you are in the market for silicone rubber products you will certainly want to contact the professional sales staff at United Silicones to get more information about the different types of silicone rubber products that they can manufacture for you.
