50Shades of Grey Already Dominating Box Office As Rival Movie

Posted by BrielleFoster on January 22nd, 2014

If you are a filmmaker and you have a film like “Fifty Shades...” which itself is based on a novel that will make you sweat, as your contender, you should know that it is best to avoid any confrontation, because the adaptation is already on its way to becoming one of the biggies of the year 2015, when it releases. That is why “The Longest Ride”, which is also an adaptation from a Nicolas Sparks novel of the same name, has had its release pushed back by two months. Had this not been the case, there could have been a major showdown between these two chick-flicks, as they are being touted as, at the box office of course, where else?

When word started spreading that Erica James’s novel 50 shades of grey would be adapted for the big screen. It was to have an August 2014 release. But from that announcement to now, things have undergone a sea change, changes so huge that it has even prompted the producers to push the release of the film back to February 2015. Though it is not good news for fans, lovers and couples can really be excited to watch a ‘love story’ at Valentine’s. The love story between Ana and Christian may not be a conventional one, but when it comes to the manifestation of love and the expression of it all, Ana and Christian can give any character from any novel by any writer (read ‘The Longest Ride’ by Nicolas Sparks), a run for their money.

Nicolas Sparks, who is equally well-known for his poignant love stories, many of which have already graced the screen, will again, try to appeal to the female psyche with “The Longest Ride”. His adaptation will now release in April 2015, after “Fifty Shades Of Grey Movie” of course. The producers of his film are optimistic that the April release will pull in more female fans as the Easter break will be a great time to cash on. Similarly, fans who love both Erica James and Nicolas Sparks would not have to share their allegiance. They can easily watch James’s adaptation and still have time to watch Sparks’s magic spark up the screen. For a film like “Fifty Shades.....” which has already been in the news right from its inception till now, it is difficult to disappoint fans and tell them that their wait has to be extended. But surely we have all heard that patience is a virtue and when it comes to the fruit of patience, you can be assured that it will be sweet, at least, that is what the entire team of the movie adaptation is vying for.
