How to get IT job in India

  1. Are you an experienced professional or are you fresher?

If you are an experienced professional who is haplessly trying to switch to a new job, there might be certain areas which you might be ignoring. Being on several Job Portals won’t guarantee you a job, you might want to increase your chances of getting noticed. Build a strong and error-free resume, if you think your lazy ass can’t do it, then take help of professionals. A resume should give out a clear message on your abilities, work done or managed.

A fresher means you come with a fresh perspective and can be trained to be a professional. If you don’t have enough work to show, you can talk about projects or events you managed. For e.g. You organized the Quiz competition and similar events in your college etc. So why are we talking about this, because we want to know whether you were a nerd in your college? NO! It shows you have management skills and abilities that you can execute tasks on your own.

Don’t fill you resume with jargon and clichéd words. It should be precise, grammatically-correct, clean, crisp type. Talk about what difference did you make or what was the impact.

Be articulate about your accomplishments and don’t just fill your resume words like how you passed your engineering.

Your resume is now done and good to go. ( Oh and wait, please do not use your selfie as a picture for your resume/ job portal or the one where you have the about to fart face!)

Many job portals work best according to your skills set and the keyword searches which means if you use the rights keywords, it increases your chance of getting noticed.

Linkedin, Naukri, Times Jobs, Wisdom, Monster are some of the job portals you might know as well.

So for searching jobs, start thinking how to highlight your profile rather than pressing the panic button and going into depression.

For E.g If you are a Software Engineer, do your research and go through the profiles of top Software techies which you can relate to and watch and learn. Connect with people from whom you can learn something related to your profession. The more relevant people you connect with, the more are your chances of getting visibility.

Best part- You can directly contact the HR or someone from the company without having to actually wait for a response.

And there are certain etiquette when you talk to someone asking for help and that implies on Linkedin too. Nobody is doing you a favor.

Be polite, stop nagging them and if you don’t get a response from the employer. Wait and be patient.

Keep it professional, and remember it’s not Facebook or Tinder. Many times, they will save the candidate’s details in their database and let you know when they have a vacancy.

Draft a cover letter in case the person asks you to send your resume with contact details and everything.

Another way to find employers or check for vacancies is to make a list of it companies in mumbai you would like to target and check their websites or carer page for vacancies. Try to connect with the HR of the company and talk to them.

Never give incorrect information about yourself.

If you get nervous during interviews, attend as many interviews not because we are jobless.. but yes we are. Most importantly it gives you an opportunity to analyze yourself where you went wrong.

You don’t have to waste your money on consultants which promise you a job.

If you aren’t able to score a goal in football, you don’t sit there crying but you try another tact or strategy.
