Rim And Tyres Have Different Characteristics

A rim is basically outer circular designof a wheel. A tyre is basically mounted on the rim. A rim is also in coin which is basically a sharp and circular edge or the outermost part of the coin which surrounds the coin. Rims are used in cars or automobiles. Rims have different characteristics. The characteristics of the rim are diameter, type, width and vehicle performance. The diameter is the distance between centerof the rim and the start of the tire. The width of air coupling the rim is basically separationof distance between opposedrim flanges. From flange to flange the distance or the width of any rim should be minimum. The type of a rim is dependent on typeof the tire used in the car it is also dependent upon the person who is buying the rim. As the rim is above tyre so it is important that the rim is in good shape so it should support restof the car and performance of the car or some other vehicle should be good. After the manufacturing of the rim there is testing of the rim. In endurance testof the rim the rim’s durability and fatigue and resistance is tested to the limit.

It this case the tire and the rim are rotated under a very high pressure which no one can take but only the rim and tire. There is another test called impact test. In the impact test of the rim the wheel or the rim basically collides with large particles or obstacles. Another test is rim flange test. In this test load is plied to the rim and it is pushed to its limit. Other tests are dimensional test, quality test, corrosion test, evaluation test and many others.Tire or tyre is basically a ring shaped which is covering the wheel or the rim. The materials which are used in the tyres are natural rubber, synthetic rubber, wire, fabric, chemicals, compounds etc. In the old days iron tires were used which were not durable. In 1887 first rubber tyrewas created and after that revolution in tyre industry started and tyre evolved into durable long running tyre.

Tyres are basically manufactured in machines that make tires. According to a report there are about 1 billion tyres are produced per year and in the year 2010 140 billion dollars of tyres were sold. The tyre is made up of many parts. The parts of which tyre is made up of are tread, tread lug, tread void, rain groove, wear bar, sipe, rain groove, Bead, side wall, ply and shoulder. The tyres also have many additional components such as rim, outer tube, inner tube and valve stem. The types of tyres are also different. Some of them are biastire, radial tyre, solid tyre, iron tyre, semi – pneumatic tyre, belted bias tyre, tubeless, studded tyres etc. As the tyres are made for different terrains.
