The question contained in the title of the article may seem trivial but in fact it is not. The following article aims to present the pros and cons of being a ghost producer or DJ, or both. We will also present a few famous DJs who also deal with music production on a daily basis.

Theoretically, in the world of music it should be that DJ produces his own song, but let's face it - sometimes several ghost producers work on one song, a song writer, a vocalist or a sound engineer, etc. However, there are exceptions in this regard - DJ may be both ghost producer. What are the advantages of being both DJ and ghost producer? First and foremost - the producer can produce the song himself, which he can then play in the club. Thanks to this, he can decide himself about the genre of the song, tone, timbre, etc. If the producer wants to have additional vocal in the song, he also has the right to choose whatever he wants. In the case of using the services of a ghost producer, DJ may have a limited choice. Ghost producer usually tries to appeal to DJ's taste, but it may not always be a perfectly hit track. An additional advantage is the financial aspect - DJ makes money playing in clubs, concerts, but also maybe additionally undertaking the ghost production of a piece on commission for a completely different person. A second source of income appears when health, life or other circumstances prevent us from being DJ.

What are the downsides of being both DJ and ghost producer? In the absence of inspiration, an idea for a song, as a DJ we have a problem. This is a situation that is quite common in the artistic world. Various factors influencing the producer can lead to a complete lack of ideas for something new, in the case where previous songs played are already "hackneyed". Then the ideal solution is to use the services of the ghost production. The only question that arises is whether DJ is able to use this form. He may be reluctant to do so, as he may feel that his vision is to create music that he only likes and is his own. Well, it is an individual matter. Another downside to having both professions may be the lack of time for anything else. The crowd of work may cause the above-described lack of inspiration and idea for a new track, but not only. A person who does not have time for everyday life may initially enjoy this course of things. But over time, the lack of time for hobbies, physical activity, making dreams come true or pursuing your passions may have a negative impact on the work of the ghost producer / DJ.

In turn, being only a ghost producer or just a DJ can have its advantages and disadvantages. It depends on the individual preferences of a given person, their character traits, habits and preferences.
