Five tips for a successful family photo shoot

Prepare the child mentally

A good way to put the odds in our side is to prepare the child mentally for what will happen during the photoshoot. Talking positively about taking the picture a few weeks in advance, explaining what you'll be doing in front of the camera, and counting the sleepovers before D-Day are all good ways to show her that it will be an exciting experience. You can even play model with him! Of course, that won't prevent some coconuts from being embarrassed at the start of the session, but it does prevent them from being afraid of the camera or the family photography.

Have no waiting
Let's be honest, photoshoots with young children rarely go as planned. However, that does not mean that they are wasted! Does your little one want to run and use up his energy? Let's ask him to run to you, which will give us the opportunity to have lively and natural portraits. He rather wants to play hiding behind the tree? Let's all play hide and seek with him, it will turn the experience into a game. Hopefully for the best, plan for the worst and be prepared to be surprised!

Bring something to stimulate him
It's no secret that children under five don't have a great attention span! Being photographed for an hour can quickly become redundant for them. Having something on hand to stimulate them and keep them interested is a great idea. For example, a toy that makes noise or music is great for toddlers under the age of one, while a more complex activity like having a picnic works great with older ones. You can even let them choose to make them feel more involved in the photoshoot!

Don't be afraid of ridicule
Nevertheless, it is sometimes possible that a child remains ice during the session. This is when we can use the secret techniques: having a tickle fight, singing songs together, practicing our best faces, etc.

If all this does not work, then I bring out the heavy artillery: the farts jokes! Yes, yes, I agree. It's nono to say "It smells of fart!" Did you fart (child's name) ?! », But what do you want? They work, especially when combined with a fart noises application ! Indeed, fart jokes allow us to have beautiful natural photos with a REAL unforced smile. In addition, they quickly put young and old in a good mood.

If for some reason you are uncomfortable with this technique, you can suggest some other funny words or phrases that will make your coconuts laugh and I will be happy to put them into practice.

Have fun
It goes without saying, of course, but being in the right frame of mind is essential to having an enjoyable photoshoot. In my experience, parents who come to their session in a bad mood always pass the attitude on to their children. Instead, take advantage of the session to clear your mind and fully enjoy this quality moment with the family. In addition, I am sure that you will leave with a lighter heart! It's a winner for everyone!
