Why’s there so much talk about the latest Kia K5?

There is a new Kia midsize family sedan that is better than the Kia Optima. It has a bold and aggressive outside styling and makes for very comfy driving. Besides, it’s a great buy for the cost. Yes, some sportiness has been compromised for its comfort. However, people will be glad to know that Kia will launch a high-performing GT model to compensate for the diminished driving excitement. Some sedans are indeed there that have a slightly superior blend of comfort and sportiness. An example is the Honda Accord. However, Kia has some plus points that will make it popular among midsize car shoppers.

Despite the introduction of the Kia K5 in 2020, it is worthy of being termed the next-generation Optima.

The interior and in-car technology

The interior of the K5 is a contrast to its bold and aggressive exterior. However, the interior is stylish. The uniquely designed dashboard is a visual treat. The dash and doors of most models have an aluminum-look trim. However, the Kia K5 has a conclusive matte-finish faux wood trim. Premium plastics have soft-touch surfaces and fascinating patterns.

The infotainment screen sits large before the driver at the middle of the dash. The screen in the K5 is 10.25 inches. It’s greater and has updated graphics that look nicer. Touch-sensitive shortcut controls replace the physical buttons. Traditional buttons and knobs are in place for climate control.

The seating is rather comfy. Mainly, the front seats have thick cushions. The seats are very adaptable, and so riders will find a comfortable position. Space is realistic.

The size

The K5 is 193.1 inches in length, 73.2 inches in width, and stands 56.9 inches tall. The wheelbase is 112.2 inches in length. Thus, the general length and wheelbase are 2 inches longer than the Kia Optima. In this segment, the K5 is about one inch either way of the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.

Inside, there is ample legroom and shoulder room for front and rear commuters. Theoretically, the shoulder room is almost the same as Toyota and Honda. Those who sat at the back of the 2021 Kia K5 wichita promise ample legroom for grown-ups to stay comfy for long.

Performance and fuel economy

All Kia K5s barring the GT features the eight-speed automatic transmission and turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder. It generates 180 horsepower and a torque of 195 pound-feet. People who want more horsepower and torque should pick the GT trim level. People who want the front-wheel-drive should pick the LX, LXS, EX trims, and GT-Line. Those who prefer the all-wheel-drive should pick the LXS and GT-Line. As for fuel economy, with the front-wheel-drive, its 27 mpg in the metropolis, 37 on the thoroughfare, and 31 combined. People who want an auto start-stop should get the base LX trim.
