Tips to Improve Indoor Air Quality at your Home

Posted by Heather Homes on November 23rd, 2020

Apart from mask and sanitizer, excessive cleaning has also become a new normal during this global pandemic. While we are carefully sanitizing and disinfecting smartphones to shoes to keep the virus away, we might have forgotten a pressing matter that requires immediate attention – indoor air quality.

With everyone spending most of their time at home, maintaining indoor air quality has become a necessity to keep our dear ones safe.

Here are a few tips to improve indoor air quality:

Reduce VOCs

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) are emitted from certain solids and liquids. Organic chemicals are widely used as ingredients in household products. Paints, varnishes and wax all contain organic solvents, as do many cleaning, disinfecting and cosmetic products. The only option to reduce VOC emission is by reducing the use of products with VOCs.

Open your Windows

The thought of opening windows might seem scary, but it is necessary. Opening windows will bring in fresh air that is good for adults, children and pets, it is a great way for air circulation in your house and it also removes the toxins in the air.

Reduce Burning

Reduce burning inside the house, such as incense, candles and fires. Even if you do, make sure to send the fumes or smoke outside using an exhaust fan that vents to the outdoors or by opening windows and doors to allow air circulation and let the fresh air inside.

Vacuuming and Hot water wash

Vacuuming cleaning upholstered furniture and carpets reduces the dust and improves the quality of air indoors. Wash bed linens, curtain and covers in hot water to keep dust mites away.
