  1. To begin with, you will first need to tap on the Settings app icon located in the applications menu on your iPhone. This will open the settings section of your iPhone.
  2. Once you are in the Settings section of your iPhone, you will need to tap on the Mail, Contacts, Calendar option to get access to the iPhone mail settings. You will be directed to the next screen.
  3. On the next screen, you will see the list of all your existing email account configured on your iPhone along with the option to add a new email account. So, here you will need to tap on the Add Account option.
  4. As you will tap on the Add Account option, a list of popular email service providers will display on your screen. The options are most likely to be Google, Yahoo!, Aol., Outook.com, and Other.
  5. From the given list of email options, you will need to select the Outlook.com option.

NOTE: As Microsoft has shifted its Hotmail services to its new email platform Outlook, you will need to select the Outlook.com option.

  1. As you will select the Outlook.com option, you will be directed to the next screen where you will be prompted to enter the email address and password of your Hotmail account. So, enter the complete email address in the Email field and password of your Hotmail account in the Password field. You can enter a description of your choice in the Description field.

NOTE: If selecting the Outlook.com option doesn’t help you configure your Hotmail account on iPhone automatically, you can tap on the Other option instead of Outlook.com. This will take you to the next screen where you will be prompted to enter your Hotmail email settings manually and follow the on-screen prompts for manual configuration. However, before selecting this option, make sure you have the correct Hotmail email settings.

  1. Once you are done entering the required information in the appropriate fields, you will need to tap on the Next option located in the top-right corner of the screen. Doing so will send your Hotmail account information received by the Mail app to the Hotmail server for verification. If your Hotmail login credentials would have been entered correctly, you will be taken to the next screen on your iPhone for synchronizing Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders.
  2. On the next screen, you can enable or disable the options (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders) by tapping on the slider icon next to each option.

NOTE: By default, the Contacts option on your screen would be disabled.

  1. If you tap on the slider icon next to the Contacts option, this will enable the synchronization of contacts from Hotmail to the iPhone. As you will tap on the slider icon next to Contacts, you will be prompted with the following question and options.

What would you like to do with existing local contacts on your iPhone?

  • Keep on My iPhone
  • Delete
  • Cancel
  1. If you wish to merge the existing contacts on your iPhone with your Hotmail contacts, you will need to select the Keep on My iPhone. If you wish to only keep the Hotmail contacts on your iPhone, you will need to select the Delete option. However, if you only wish to keep the iPhone contacts, you will need to select the Cancel option and disable the Contacts option by tapping on the Slider icon next to it.

Once you are done making the appropriate changes to the displayed options for synchronization, you will need to tap on the Save button located at the top-right corner of the screen. Doing so will complete the configuration process ofthe Hotmail account on the iPhone. After the successful configuration, you will then be able to send, reply, forward, delete email messagesand also be able to carry out other email-related activities using the mail app of your iPhone.
