Harris County Jail – What Are the Rules to Visit an Inmate?

Naturally, visitation is a privilege given by correction facilities in the United States both for the inmates and for their friends and family. However, every correction facility in the country including the Harris County Jail has the authority to restrict, revoke or deny the visits. They do this when they feel that the visit of a person would threaten the good order, security or safety of the facility. Also, the authorities have the right to deny when the visitation rules are not followed by a visitor.

Misuse of visitation system:

If a visitor misuses the visitation system and shows inappropriate behavior, the jail authorities reserve the right to suspend the visitation privileges. Other than, privileged visits, the visitation will be watched by detention personnel. If you intend to provide an inmate with any prohibited item or substance, it will be considered a criminal act. This rule applies not just to Harris County but even to the other correctional facilities in the United States like the Montgomery county jail.

Visitation rules in Harris County Jail:

Your visitation at this facility will begin when you get into the main lobby of the facility in which the inmate is staying. The inmates can use a single 20-minute visit per visitation day. The visiting person or people should be of 17 years or more and they should come with a valid federal or state ID card or driver's license with a photograph. In the case of visitors of less than 17 years, they should be accompanied by an adult of 17 years or more. A maximum of two adults and two children can visit.
