Finish the Year Strong with These Motivational Tips

Posted by Successories on November 26th, 2020

It might not feel like it, but the year is quickly coming to an end. For most companies, this is go-time when the team must come together to ensure that not a single KPI or goal goes unachieved. But motivating a team at the end of the year can be easier said than done. To no fault of their own, many of your team members are probably busy thinking about the holidays or looking forward to the start of the new year. We’re not quite there yet but try these four year-end motivation tips to help inspire your team.

Set a Good Example

The end of the year can be a hectic time for many companies. Across departments, everyone is working as hard as they can to reach year-end goals. How would they feel if the executive team or other higher-ups were nowhere to be found? Your team is working hard, and although you might be feeling the year-end slump, you can’t show it. Be there and be available, and your motivational energy could be contagious.

Recognize Achievements as They Happen

Even though we’re close to the end of the year, achievements are happening daily. It’s important for leaders to recognize these milestones, no matter how big or small they are as they happen. We all want to be told that we’re doing a good job, and nobody wants to see their achievements go unnoticed. Whether you’re showing support or recognition on the company chat platform or sending employee gifts to your remote employees, pay attention to the little things; your recognition might be what they need to push through an especially tough day.

Be Clear on the Team’s Goals

There’s no point in being busy just for the sake of being busy. It’s crucial that leaders at every level are clear with their teams with respect to their year-end goals. You could be surprised how far apart you could be from your team. Make sure that they have a clear, established, achievable goal to accomplish at the end of the year. Every company and team will be different, but when your team knows exactly what’s expected of them, they can cut back on any unnecessary tasks and work towards a singular goal. Simply having a destination could be all your team needs to get the ball over the finish line.

Plan a Year-End Celebration

Your team has worked hard all year long, and they deserve to celebrate all of their achievements. Give them something to look forward to with a year-end celebration. Whether your team is working in-person or remote, there are plenty of ways to celebrate. Some companies might choose to dedicate a day to playing games or socializing. Other companies will have an award show complete with corporate gifts to recognize everyone’s achievements. Whatever you choose, make sure your team knows there’s light at the end of these busy last few weeks.
