Top 5 major challenges facing primary education

Most of us will acknowledge the fact that the state of our primary education system has plenty of room for improvement. The primary challenge is to identify the problem based on the perspective of students, parents, educators, or lawmakers. However, the line between the problems and our understanding of them appears very blurry.

From the collection and analysis of data, below are the most common challenges faced by the school during primary education:

One study regime for all students

The most common and feared problem faced is the presence of a one-size-fits-all system of imparting knowledge. Say, in a class of 25 students, one can find 25 different unique and individualistic character traits. There can be slow learners, fast learners, talented, hard workers, uninterested, helpless, etc. The present education system requires every student to follow the same study pattern, which may be tiresome for some. Each student is required to complete assignments, take assignments, and understand the concepts at the same pace.

Also, teachers have limited time for teaching lessons. It is tough to accommodate every different behavioral child in a class of just 40 minutes. That too many times they have to take attendance, guide, and mentor students.

Technology

It is a bare fact that the kids are more technically advanced than many teachers. When a teacher is not techno-savvy to compete with devices, it can be difficult for them to bring education and technology together, keeping a student’s interest and attention.

Latest technology needs to come into the primary school’s classroom, to keep up with the demands of the 21st century.  A student’s love of technology may distract them from their schoolwork, but still, the latest technology skills are the need of the hour.

Redundant teaching techniques

The teaching techniques are more inclined towards completing the course before exams. There is a system in terms of teaching topics and subjects. Most classrooms can be found as more passive, meaning students don’t interact with teachers for their queries. Students are required to listen to the class session and there is no way to find out whether a teacher’s effort translates into gain to the students. This results in the demotivation of students and slowly makes a class dull. The lack of interest may further result in keeping a child away from going to school.

Parental Involvement

Most teachers say that they are not happy when it comes to parental involvement of the kids towards the parents-teachers meet. Some parents are hard to be seen for the entire school year, no matter how hard management asks them to keep in touch with the class teachers. On the other hand, some parents never seem to go away, interfering with teachers and the education process. There are too many ways where parents can involve and support their child’s education needs and at the same time can understand the teacher’s level to interact with them. In the current time, parents have become more demanding and every parent wants a teacher to focus more on their individual child, which is totally unfair.

Now that you are familiar with the challenges faced with primary education, you can plan accordingly and identify the right school handling these issues.
