First of all, think about you. What things would be better suited for you? If you have technical skills, techno entrepreneurship is the best way because you know everything about this. Or, you can run an eCommerce site in the beginning if you have enough ideas on business policies. Most movies are based on an entire business category or local boost up businesses. On and off, we need biographical movies, a lot familiar with documentary movies.
A movie is based on a certain person, his/her lifestyle, tragedy, comedy, and so on. Documentary movies are always based on famous people or lineage. Every year you’ll find such movies, both in Hollywood and Bollywood- the topmost movie arena of the world. We picked up 7 movies for entrepreneurs including both of those movie industries.
1. The Theory of Everything
A completely biographical romantic movie based on the late Stephen Hawkins. People often think how a biographical movie can be a romantic one, especially a man like Hawkins! Well, he’s a man after all. He spent his entire life chasing theoretical astronomy and quantum physics. No one beats his IQ score yet. I think nobody can do it further.
The movie plot seemed pretty solemn but in the middle, lots of actions are awaiting. Starting a career at Cambridge University, Stephen and his colleagues theoretically proved the black hole concept. During the study session, Stephen falls in love with another physicist Jane, both got married later.
After the successful completion of the ‘black hole’ theory, Stephen is suddenly caught by a neuromotor disease that immobilizes him. He couldn’t walk, move, or talk. Moreover, he worked on his famous ‘big bang’ theory, with the disease. In France, Stephen and Jane with Jonathan (Jane’s closest friend later) got an opportunity to Bordeaux opera. But they didn’t join in entertaining media whatever.
Stephen had the most fabulous career in his life during the black hole concept. Later he became the world’s topmost physicist. ‘A brief history of time’- everyone knows about this book and already it is inserted into many syllabi. A newbie startup businessman or entrepreneur can watch this movie on Netflix for inspiration.
In 2010, Christopher Nolan, a famous Hollywood director, launched his sci-fi documentary movie ‘Inception’. Usually, this movie is based on Yusuf’s dream- a character in this movie. In line with this dream, a team was set up by Dominick Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) and they launched a physical device for subconscious minds.
After the successful premiere of Insomnia, Christopher Nolan launched this Warner Bros film and was awarded for the best cinematography as well. As we said earlier, this film is based on a sci-fi dream that comes true later.
Entrepreneurs can watch this movie for inspiration, workflow, team management, and coordination. Although DiCaprio movies are kinda action/thriller, this one is a great achievement of his life as an entrepreneur. From starting to advance level team operation, all officials showed their top efforts in this movie.
3. Steve Jobs (Movie)
As the name resembles everything, this one is a biopic of the famous co-founder of Apple, Steve Jobs- the topmost renowned person in this world. Successive failure never stopped him from reaching the utmost peak of his corporation. Danny Boyle, a prominent Hollywood director launched this biopic in 2015.
The movie starts with the newly established software and hardware company, Apple. In 1984, Apple incorporation (inc.) first launched their 128k Mackintosh PC. sooner or later it failed for 3 years. Kate Winslet, the Oscar awarded actress, as the chief marketing executive in this movie, tried her best to boost the company anyhow. Her ingenious skills and intellect encouraged Steve (Michael Fassbender) not to break inside. In 1988, after 4 years, Apple launched its updated 256k Mackintosh and approved by all major industries in the US. Steve became the CEO of Apple.
Starter entrepreneurs who have capital or investments, they’re welcome to watch this movie for the ups and downs of life. Every business has its success and failure moments. Those who cope with hard times, sustain eternally.
4. Yes Man
Jim Carey is famous for his comedy roles and this fantastic comedy movie ‘Yes Man’ would be the funniest and entertaining one for entrepreneurs. Though an old movie in 2008, it has a vital impact on startup businesses, mentorship, motivation overall. The movie is directed by Peyton Reed, an eminent director in Hollywood.
The plot is simple. A bank loan officer, Carl (Jim Carey) got divorced and due to frustration, he was near to an ending career. One of his colleagues invited him to a motivational seminar ‘Yes’, and that was the turning point in his pursuit. Carl started taking every opportunity he got. Found a girlfriend, started passing time with her. The creepy hasty moments of a human life erupted again. The romantic couple split and at the last stage, we found Lucy (Carl’s girlfriend) took photography in her career. Carl met her, all dreams came true and they both started a new journey as photographers.
Frustrated people who successively failed to show any remarkable achievement in his/her life, can see this romance-comedy movie at least once. Lots of harsh reality and remedies can be found as well.
This is based on the true story of Bihar, India. The movie title ‘Manjhi’ means the boatman. Critics say the storyline of this Bollywood movie is taken from John Burbidge’s story however this is completely different stuff. The movie starts with a boatman’s personal lifestyle, his unstructured and ignorant place, a giant river fall, and a hospital far away from the village. ‘Manjhi’ was starred by Nawazuddin Siddique, Radhika Apte- the two most convincing and critical actors in the Bollywood industry.
The small village Gehlaur in Bihar has a hospital far away on the other side of the river falls. So any person who needs treatment, he/she have to cross the gigantic streamy river, mostly impossible for many. Manjhi tried to make the shortest path to the hospital after his wife’s loss, due to birth-giving. He took 22 long years to finish the job. Relentless work, no rest for a single day, and motivation gave a superpower to Manjhi. In 2007, Manjhi died and after 4 years, the Indian government made a bridge on falls. Does it seem how people specifically an entrepreneur can learn from this movie? Critics say ‘yes’ and ‘no’ both. But in my view, an entrepreneur should watch it because of motivation, integrity, patience, and never give up mentality. These tetra attributes will win every turbulent provision of our life.
6. The Pursuit of Happyness
This film is based on the true story of ‘rags to riches’, starred by Will Smith (Gardner) who was homeless and suffered in severe calamities of personal life. His wife parted away, leaving their only son. Gardner started an unpaid internship as a stockbroker and kept raising his son. Being a homeless and low-salary person, his life wasn’t that cool and flexible.
Gardner struggled to fight back with poverty, worked 24x7 for a long time. Even in the worst of the time, he never gave up. Stock brokerage houses interviewed several times and every time he was rejected. After concluding his internship period of 6 months, Gardner was called in an interview. His managers found him expert and efficient, recruit him as an executive. In the climax, we saw Gardner launched his own broker house on the wall street.
Entrepreneurs learn struggling, integrity, skill development, interpersonal skills, and economical aspects of reality- from this movie. Apart from family life, this movie teaches us the ups and downs of life and how to recover from it.
7. Something Ventured
This 2015 film is perfect for newbie industrialists or companies. The storyline of this movie starts with the four major companies in the world- Intel, Google, Apple, and Yahoo. Director Daniel Geller launched this documentary film for all new entrepreneurs in the US.
Apple, Google, and Intel- this trio launched their business analogously and faced severe losses at the first. Day by day all these companies became the largest corporation and multi-billion project of the government.
An entrepreneur business person can learn the technique of business policy, when to launch products, how to extract all odds, motivation, and management team building.
