Guide toConfigure Roadrunner Email Account on Outlook with IMAP and SMTP

NOTE: The following instructions are based on Outlook 2016. Steps may vary for other versions of the Outlook email program.

  1. To begin with, you will first need to launch the Outlook2016 email program on your computer. Once the email program gets opened on your screen, you will need to click on the Fileoption located on the upper-left menu bar. This will open a menu on your screen.
  2. From the drop-down menu that appears on your screen, you will need to select the Infooption. Under Info, you will need to click on the Add Account option. Doing so will direct to the next screen where you will be prompted to enter your Roadrunner email address to add the account.
  3. So, enter your Roadrunner email address in the provided field and then select theAdvanced options located below the field. Then, select the checkbox next tothe “Let me set up my account manually” option, and after that press theConnect option.
  4. As you will press the Connect option, the screen will display the different account options like – Office 365, Google, Outlook.com, Exchange, POP, and IMAP. From the given options, select the IMAP option. This will take you to the “IMAP Account Settings for name@example.com” window.
  5. In this window, you will need to enter the following details in the provided fields on your screen.
  • Incoming mail port: 143
  • Outgoing Port:587

o   Secure - Port: 993and Security Type: SSL/TLS

o   Insecure - Port: 143 and Security Type: None

  • Not Selected: This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)
  • Use the following type of encrypted connection: None

NOTE: In case you are usingSecure SSL / TLS Settings, make sure to select the checkbox next tothe “This service requires a secure connection (SSL)” box in both Outgoing and IncomingMails.

NOTE: If you are looking to set up your Roadrunner email account using POP, instead of the abovementioned entries, you will need to enter the following information in the provided fields.

  • Incoming Port: 110
  • Outgoing Port: 587

o   Secure - Port:995 and Security Type: SSL/TLS

o   Insecure - Port: 110 and Security Type: None

  • Not Selected: This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)
  • Use the following type of encrypted connection: None

General SMTP Port Settings

  • Outgoing (SMTP) Secure - Port: 465 for and Security Type:SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
  • Outgoing (SMTP roaming server) Secure - Port: 587 and Security Type: SSL/TLS
  • Outgoing (SMTP) - Port: 25 and Security Type: None
  • Outgoing (SMTP roaming server) Insecure - Port: 587 and Security Type: None
  1. Once you are done entering the required details in the prompted field as mentioned above, you will be then asked for the password. So, enter the password in the provided field and then click on theOK button.
  2. Clicking on the OK button will complete the process and you will then be able to use your Roadrunner email account on Outlook 2016.
