Let's pack up and go to Milan

Posted by Luggage & Storage on November 30th, 2020

There is always a good reason to pack your bags and spend a day in Milan: there are those who go there for work, to do some shopping or to watch a game at the stadium.

Indicated by many as gray, boring and workaholic, praised by others as efficient, elegant and European, it is a city that offers many services on a human scale, managing despite everything to conquer even those who see only concrete and office hives.

More and more often Milan hosts cultural initiatives and new creative projects are born in its streets.

Even if sometimes the sky is gray and in autumn it rains, today Milan dances under a colorful rainbow.

But what's cooking in the pot? Here's what to do in Milan and the initiatives, temporary and otherwise, in the city during this period.

Milan hides art. Small creative works are scattered around the city and sometimes the hectic life that we are forced to lead diverts us from the pleasure of observing the urban details that change face before our eyes.

Walking through Milan with your backpack on your shoulders, you come across modified signage, colored manholes or even furnished as small apartments (provocative initiative by the artist Biancoshock), colorful control units (Energy Box project), murals, superheroes (by Urbansolid) and drawn shutters. All these little big projects are made by young artists who want to send a positive message, a breath of fresh air that ruffles the hair of Milanese and visitors.

Where to sleep in Milan

Milan offers many accommodation facilities, from super-luxury hotels to youth hostels. If you are looking for a hotel with a good quality / price ratio, which provides excellent services while focusing on eco-sustainability, we would like to recommend the solutions proposed by Best Western, which has several structures in various areas of the city offering rooms at low prices. competitive.
Do not forget to book luggage storage in Milan in advance, to avoid nasty surprises and then having to carry your suitcases while visiting the city.

How to get to Milan

The Lombard capital is served by 3 airports. The most convenient is Linate, which in a few years will be connected to the historic center by the underground currently under construction. At the moment there is a bus (n. 73) that takes you to the central Piazza San Babila in about 30 minutes. The International Airport of Milan Malpensa (Terminal 1) instead is well connected by the Malpensa Express train which connects the airport with the main areas of the city (Cadorna, Central Station) in about 40 minutes. Bergamo Orio al Serio airport (where most of Ryanair flights pass) is finally connected to the Central Station by various bus companies, the journey takes about 50 minutes.
Be careful because it is not possible to leave luggage in the Milan train station. For this reason I suggest to reserve a luggage storage in advance.

How to move in Milan

In the city, the public transport network is quite efficient, but don't forget that the historic center is quite small and you can easily get around on foot. Otherwise, you can activate a daily (or weekly if you stay longer) subscription to the BikeMi bike sharing service.
