Yoga is perhaps the most comprehensive form of exercise or practice. It is for all the areas of health: for mental health, for physical health, emotional health and for spiritual well-being as well. Yoga is basically multifaceted a far as the benefits of yoga are concerned.

Here are some major benefits of yoga.

Blood pressure:
if you are consistent with your yoga then your blood pressure will be optimally regulated, there will be better circulation and oxygenation of blood in the body.

Pulse rate:
a sign of a healthy heart is a lower pulse rate. When your heart has lower pulse rate it means that it is healthy enough and capable enough to pump more blood with only a fewer beat. When you are practising yoga on a regular basis, your pulse rate is controlled and this keeps your heart healthy.

Circulation:
with yoga your blood circulation is usually improved. With improved blood circulation in the system the nutrients and oxygen are optimally distributed in the body. If you are practising yoga regularly you will have healthier organs, skin, and brain. Everything will be improved overtime.

Respiratory:
in the above passage we have seen how lower pulse rate indicates a good and healthy heart and circulatory system. Similarly, when your respiration is lower, it indicates healthy lungs. It means that your lungs are working efficiently. In yoga, there are a number of controlled breathing exercises which are very effective in improving your breathing and respiratory health.

Cardiovascular endurance:
with yoga you can improve your cardio-vascular capacity. As we have seen above regular practise of yoga ensures lower heart rate and also proper oxygenation of your body. This improves the cardio-vascular endurance of a person who has been practising yoga for quite some time.

Organs:
yoga helps in ensuring that your internal organs are safe and sound and that they are functional. Actually, some of the exercises in yoga you can massage the internal organs. This improves the ability of the body to prevent diseases. This is a major benefit. Also with regular practice you are able to attune your mind with your body, so much so that if there is so issue internally, you will be able to figure it out or at-least you will be able to read the signs. Treatment becomes smooth, easy and successful when there is early detection of a disease.

Gastrointestinal:
when you are regularly practising yoga, your gastrointestinal functions will automatically improve.

Immunity:
yoga also improves your immune response system.

Metabolism:
when you have a balanced metabolism you will have a healthy weight and you will be able to control hunger as well.
