Find One-To-One tuition providers that can make an impact without breaking the b

Is your child struggling with some of their subjects in school? Do they need help preparing for major exams? They could use the help of a credible tutor who can provide one-on-one lessons. One to one tuition can be an investment that can help boost your child’s learning and proficiency, as the tutor will only focus on your child. You need to make sure that you are choosing the right tutoring provider, and as one to one tuition is always more expensive. You need to find a provider that will offer good value for money. Here are some of the critical factors you can consider when selecting the right one to one tuition provider for our child:

  • The qualifications and experience of the teacher - You need to make sure you are hiring someone credible, preferably a tutor with extensive experience and mastery of their subject. That said, it is best to look for a tutor who specialises in the subject in which your child needs improvement and has experience tutoring/teaching that subject also.
  • Some of the best tutors have a QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and already have experience teaching in a school. They tend to also have access to learning materials specific to relevant exam boards or stage of the National Curriculum.
  • Despite the above point, do not become obsessed with a tutor with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status). Some of the best tutors / educators in the tutoring field have never set foot in a classroom. They just simply have that knack and ability to get through to a student and really breakdown complex concepts and ideas. Do not let a gem of a tutor go just because they do not have QTS. Experience and knowledge of the subject is key and a passion for imparting the knowledge is a must.
  • You should also consider an Ofsted registered tutorial service with fully vetted, DBS-cleared tutors.
  • Your budget – This is one of the main factors that can affect your decision to hire a tutor. Often, parents hire the cheapest they find, only to be disappointed with the results. The best thing to do is find multiple tutoring providers of one to one tuition and compare their service and how much they charge for it, until you can choose a reasonably priced service which may not be the cheapest, but will provide value for money and most importantly, get results. Do not be shy to ask for a tutor’s track record in successfully helping students achieve their academic goals.
  • Feedback from parents – Find out what other parents are saying about the one to one tuition service you are looking into. The internet is a great place to find reviews of tuition providers in your local area. In addition to this, any testimonials on a tutoring agencies website will also help you decide by providing some insight and helping you verify the quality of the service. Just remember to take any feedback from a testimonial page with a grain of salt.
  • Online tuition – Learning online may be convenient for your child as it offers flexibility in delivering impactful and interactive lessons. If that makes sense to your child’s needs, make sure that the lessons are relevant to examination boards, study programs, and the National Curriculum.
  • Discounts – Some tuition providers could reduce one to one tuition fees for referrals and additional lessons. Ofsted registered tuition provider may be able to offer addition reductions as they may accept childcare vouchers, or you may be able to use the Government’s Tax-Free Childcare scheme to pay them.
