Introduction to yellow pages

Posted by webdes on April 24th, 2014

Yellow pages is a classified telephone directory or section of a directory, listing subscribers by the type of business or service they offer, usually printed on yellow paper.

The yellow pages generally follow the white pages in the phone book, in the back half. The yellow pages are all business listings, with the name, number and address of local businesses. They differ from the white pages in that yellow pages are paid listings, meaning that businesses must pay for the listing in the book and can also pay extra money for larger more attention-grabbing ads. The second major difference is that the businesses are first listed by category and then in alphabetical order by name.

A particular yellow pages is a print directory which provides an alphabetical listing of businesses within a specific geographical area, which are segregated under headings for similar types of businesses .Traditionally these directories have been published by the local phone company, but there are numerous independent directory publishers. Some yellow pages publishers focus on a particular demographic.
