Welcome To:- visithalfmoonbay.com

Francis Beach, called Kelly Beach by some, is located on Kelly St.  This popular beach has a large parking lot, for the day. It has restrooms, picnic tables, bar-b-q grills and the access to the beach is easy.  There is also a campus ground for RV's and tents. See map below for directions.

Poplar Beach is conveniently located on, Poplar Rd. The beach should be called "Popular Beach" because it can get crowed. There are other beaches posted on this site that are still great, but less known.  If you decide to go to Poplar beach, you should get there early as the parking lot fills up. Early is before 10a.m.  You will pay for parking on a pay machine that only accepts credit cards. The police do write tickets for non-payers. It's easy to get down to the beach on  brand new stairway.

Poplar Beach is a place people bring their dogs. Leash laws are important, bring a leash. Please pick up any dog waste and carry out trash. There are many trash cans at the beach entrance.

There are porto-potty restrooms at Poplar. There are two handicap parking places as well. Finally, you can park you horse trailers at Poplar Beach. There is dedicated parking as many bring their horses to walk on beach.

“Because there's nothing more beautiful than the way the ocean refuses to stop kissing the shoreline, no matter how many times it's sent away.”

Venice Beach has a large parking lot, beach access, restrooms and a picnic table. The access to the beach is easy. There is a small stream of water between the parking lot and beach you will have to cross. FYI. Once on the beach, you will this to be a quieter beach than most.  Enjoy a lunch and talk a long walk. Parking cost dollars.

Surfer's Beach is a great beach to surf due to the jetty creating waves. The surf is usually 1-2 ft, sometimes more. There is plenty of room on the beach to relax and watch the surfers. Most parking is on the street, and is free. There is a dirt lot across from the surf spot people use for parking. Surfer's Beach is located just north of Coronado St. and Hwy 1.

Next to Surfer's Beach is a popular, but small, RV park for travelers, Pillar Point RV Park. It has full hookups and does not take reservations, it is first-come, first serve.  There is also a coastal paved trail that many use to ride their bikes and walk. Sam's Chowder House just north of this surf spot.

"A big wave is like a beautiful woman, exciting to look at and thrilling to ride."

Dunes Beach and Roosevelt Beach are next to one another. You will use the same road, Young Ave. to access either beach.  Both Beaches have a dollar parking fee.  These two beaches are amazingly beautiful. Each has easy access to the beach, but has limited parking. Each beach as a restroom. There are a few picnic tables available.

The ocean makes me feel really small and it makes me put my whole life into perspective… it humbles you and makes you feel almost like you’ve been baptized. I feel born again when I get out of the ocean.”
