10 Things that Great Shooters Do

It often happens that new players in basketball don't get introduced to the right Basketball Shooting Drills. It may be due to low coaching style, or maybe they cannot afford a good coach. Therefore, we have compiled a list of such drills here and the benefits of practising them. 

Best basketball shooting drills and practices

If someone wants to be a great shooter physically, you need to do the following basketball shooting drills regularly-   

The Ray Allen Basketball Shooting Drill

In this drill, you have five different spots. The players need to take shots from all five spots. Doing this drill enables the player to become a great shooter and also improves their balance. 

Elbow Shooting Drill

This drill enables the player to create balance and consistency in their shot motions. They can learn to do so in both directions—pretty good training for improving footwork.  

555 Basketball Shooting Drill

This drill will make the players fast and help them out in increasing their shooting range. It will also help them learn footwork, balance, and rhythm. Five hundred fifty-five means are taking five shots with left-right footwork by being right to the chair, taking five shots with right-left at the opposite side, and then five alternate shots on both sides. 

Short Long Basketball Shooting Drill 

Short-long is one of the best basketball shooting drillsthat improve the player's ability to shoot the ball right into the hoop. This drill can be used as an excellent warm-up drill also. It enhances the player's ability to step into their shot and shoot. It also teaches how to develop a much faster release while also being a great conditioner.  

3 Competitive Basketball Shooting Drills

These shooting drills help improve the player's shooting, help them develop rhythm, build confidence, and get a lot of repetitions in a short duration of time. 

Fastbreak Shooting Drill

This individual shooting drill basketball helps the player learn transition shooting, passing, conditioning, teamwork, and communication during the game.  

Multipurpose Offense and Basketball Shooting Drill

You can find this drill very helpful while practising for upcoming games. It helps the player understand different offence techniques, about building a parameter and shooting for the hoop.  

Basketball Decision Training 

This Training works for teaching players that each game and move is different from the one before. They have no idea about what will happen next, so practice and repetition teach them about all possible scenarios. They learn about how to react to each move of the other player.  

One on 1 Away Screen Basketball shooting Drill

A great shooter should be able to copy cuts and learn from the game itself. This one on one away screen drill helps you know how to guard yourself using screens.    

Drop Step Basketball Shooting Drill

This drill is very effective against aggressive defenders. It helps you score more by providing more open slots and driving lanes.
