How to Create Your Own Text Message Blocking Templates For Messenger Bot

Posted by Lawrence Munk on February 3rd, 2021

In part 1 of this article we looked at the Messenger Bot, an SMS based bot for Facebook that allows anyone to set up an email campaign using Facebook's API. In this part we look at how to create the template campaign. When we created the Bot we made our own template, a short script that our bot would run every time a message was sent from our bot, one that would log the person's response and display the information in a text format that a spreadsheet program could write. When our customer sends a message to our custom campaign, they are asked to copy and paste their information into a text box on the Bot's landing page. The text box is then sent as an email attachment. We capture the name, address and phone number of the person who wrote the email and set up their profile with their name and phone number on the Bot's 'My Contacts' page. Now that we have the template campaign we can easily create customised SMS messages for each individual contact. To do this first go to the 'My Contacts' page of the Facebook Bot, and click on the link for the person whose message you want to send. You will then be asked to put their full name and phone number into a text box, which the Bot will load and save into its database. Broadcasting Using Messenger Bot Text Message Templates will then be able to select the template you want to use from the drop down menu. There is also a 'Save Template' link on the same page, which will automatically load the selected template. Once done, you can change the details of the template to your requirements. Changing the values for the columns and the separator options will allow you to customize it further. This saves all the necessary information and the Bot will remember it for you when it is time to send out the message.
