The causes of mouth irritation can be divided into two parts, a primary and a secondary.

Primary causes of mouth irritation:

When no cause is detected in a medical or laboratory examination, it is called primary or "ediopathic" (a disease caused by unknown cause), a burning sensation in the mouth. The problem of mouth irritation is related to the taste and problem of the brain or spinal nerves.

Secondary causes of mouth irritation:
