Baju raya sedondon is probably one of the most important things that people would look forward to every raya celebration. However, the tradition of wearing it is no longer exclusive during Hari Raya but also the tradition has grown to other occasions. It has also become customary for a Malay wedding, to have all family members donning their baju raya sedondon as one of the significant remarks for the wedding. The trend of wearing sedondon for the bridesmaids has already become the trend for the Malay society.

Usually, the culture of wearing baju raya sedondon at the wedding is to differentiate between the bride and groom, their families, and close friends with other guests. Baju Raya sedondon becomes the trademark for the host and helps the guests to recognize and interact with the host better. It also creates a memorable occasion that allows the newlyweds to capture it during their photo sessions with friends and families. The baju raya sedondon creates an atmosphere full of joy and fun for everyone who attends the ceremony to celebrate the holy matrimony.

There are two ways to style your baju raya sedondon. Firstly, you can match based on the colors that allow you to have different styles and designs. Secondly, you match it based on the same design but using different color schemes that match one another or creates the contrast. The choices will usually depend on one’s preferences and also the wedding situation. In certain situations, the bride and groom will do the honor to provide the clothes by sponsoring friends and families.

However, sometimes, as the bride or groom would want to give the liberty of choosing your style and doesn’t limit it, they will just let you choose your design and material for as long as the bridesmaids and groomsmen wear the attires that follow the theme color. Apart from the bridesmaids’ dresses, they would also provide a baju raya sedondon to the flower girls who will also be at the ceremony.

The choice of color is also very important and because, we do not want to appear more prominent compared to the King & his Queen of the Day (the Bride and the Groom), the selection of matching colors in the baju raya sedondon could give a good impact to the ceremony’s vibes and of course the photos taken at the event.

As we mentioned at the beginning of the article, the baju raya sedondon is not only for weddings, but it is also synonymous with Hari Raya celebrations. Families will choose a color theme every Raya, each year. It is very interesting to observe the special day because it represents unity, harmony, and happiness for each family, especially when they capture the photo together and post it on their social media. Apart from Hari Raya, there are also Malaysians who will wear baju raya sedondon  on the occasions for companies, birthday celebrations, or other events to show unity and bonds with one another.
