Lean and six sigma go hand in hand. The concept of lean was introduced to six sigma in 2002, 16 years after Motorola introduced the concept of six sigma. But the introduction of lean into six sigma has certainly proved to be an exceptional move. The entire concept has become more robust. So much so that more companies today want lean six sigma training and certification rather than just lean training or six sigma training. Lean six sigma certification is offered by some of the best names in the industry, consultants that eat and sleep this concept every day.

Let us understand what lean six sigma is all about. Six sigma, as we know, is all about process improvement. A business process is identified and errors are removed from that process to make it more productive. This is six sigma. Lean is all about removing waste and improving productivity. So when lean and six sigma come together, you get enhanced productivity through robust business processes from which wastes have been eliminated. It has been proven that lean and six sigma work in a cohesive manner and together they can contribute to running excellent processes.

Let us go slightly deeper into lean. Lean is supposed to enhance customer experience by minimizing waste. To put in simpler words, lean is used for utilizing fewer resources for better customer value proposition. Let us make it even simpler. When lean is used in a process, human intervention is minimized. Alongside capital input, space utilization and time spent are also minimized so that traditional business processes become leaner. With lean, companies are able to reach out to their customers with more variety and higher quality at lower cost and throughput times. This concept fits in hand and glove with six sigma that looks to improve business processes.

As is rather evident, all this is only possible when someone goes through lean six sigma certification. There are a few calls that any organization needs to take in this regard. First of all, an organization needs to identify those resources that should go through lean six sigma certification. This is not everyone’s job. Usually people associated with product and service quality are chosen for this certification. Once someone is certified for lean six sigma, they are able to take up projects.

The other consideration for lean six sigma certification is the training consultant. There are many lean and six sigma consultants to whom process improvement tasks can be outsourced. However, for more cost effective and long term benefits, companies get their employees lean six sigma certified and some of these consultants train, assess and certify them.

With better processes, organizations are able to provide better products and services to their customers and improve their bottom lines. In many organizations, lean six sigma plays a pivotal role in this regard. This is the only reason why organizations don’t mind spending on lean six sigma certification. The projects offer tangible results that can be defined from the money perspective.

Total understanding of lean six sigma is only possible when someone gets their lean six sigma certification.
