Blunt Tip/Extension Keratome Knives for the cataract surgery of the eye

Blunt tip Keratome knives are used during the cataract surgery of the eye. They are most commonly used during the small incision cataract surgery (SICS).

Blunt Tip Keratomes are used for extension and are designed to deliver precise incisions of various widths suitable for the implant of the IOL. These Keratomes have a blunt tip to avoid secondary incision. Precise incision helps improve the surgical outcome for the patient by reducing the recovery time and causing less post-operative trauma.

Our Sharpedge brand Blunt Tip Keratome knives are manufactured using imported surgical grade stainless steel material. They offer a wide array of incision sizes ranging from 3.2mm to 7.2mm. This gives the surgeon the flexibility to choose the appropriate size that suits his/her surgical technique. Blunt tip keratomes are further available in various options like Classicline, Primeline, Slimline and Fineline based on the form of stainless steel material used.

Classicline knives are made from stainless steel strips traditionally known as Flat Stock knives. Classicline offers a good sturdy feel. The blunt Tip Keratome knives in Classicline are available in 3.2mm, 3.5mm, 3.8mm, 4.0mm, 4.5mm, 5.2mm, 5.5mm, 6.2mm, 6.7mm and 7.2mm variants.

Primeline knives are made from stainless steel wires of different gauges traditionally known as Round Stock knives. They are sharper and finer compared to Classicline and they offer better maneuverability and visibility. The Blunt Tip Keratome knives in Primeline are available in the 3.2mm, 3.5mm, 3.8mm, 4.0mm, 5.0mm, 5.1mm, 5.2mm, 5.5mm, 6.0mm and 6.2mm variants.

Slimline knives are made from finer, pre-hardened stainless steel strips. The angled polycarbonate handle design is the identity of Slimline knives. Since the angulation is given in the handle we are able to considerably reduce the use of stainless steel material. Slimline offers best value for money. The Blunt Tip Keratome knives in Slimline are available in the 3.2mm, 3.5mm, 4.0mm, 5.2mm and 5.5mm variants.

Fineline knives use the same stainless steel material as the Slimline knives. However, they use the straight handle design and the angulation is given in the blade tip. Fineline knives offer a similar cutting performance as the Slimline knives, but offer better maneuverability and visibility. The Blunt Tip Keratome knives in Fineline are available in the 3.5mm, 4.0mm, 5.2mm and 5.5mm variants.

Most of our blunt tip Keratomes are available in straight single bevel, angled (45 degree) bevel up and angled (45 degree) bevel down.

Blunt tip keratomes are packed as:
