Basically, pho is made of rice noodles, with chicken or beef meat slices submerged in a tasty and rich chicken or beef broth. The garnishes and spices are also significant to each bowl of pho, which adds an exotic taste to the dish that makes each bowl an adventure. The typical spices needed include onion, ginger, cinnamon sticks, star anise, cardamom, coriander pods and more. Beef and chicken pho Bone marrow and the other parts of chicken and beef are one of the trade secrets in the rich flavour of pho in Victoria that are typically mixed into this dish. For instance, the marrow offers the dish a flavoursome taste that remains on your taste buds and makes you want more. Without these ingredients, whatever you have on your table might taste fine, but it is certainly not pho.

Due to its spread all across the globe, a number of variations of the dish have been created. In order to fit the requirements of various clientele, there are seafood variations, vegetarian variations and lots more. However, the original form is still the chicken or beef-based dish; chicken pho Victoria is known as “pho ga” while the beef variation is known as “pho bo”.

Seafood pho is available in various restaurants. The dish includes ingredients such as crab, shrimp, and various other seafood. The broth is made using shrimp meat. Several coastal areas in Vietnam have produced seafood pho too.

Vegetarian version

There is absolutely no reason for you to pass over this exotic noodle dish, even if you are a vegetarian. There is a vegetarian variation called “pho chay”. It comes in two different types; pure vegetarian pho whose ingredients and broth are based on vegetables and semi-vegetarian pho with vegetable garnishes and chicken or beef broth. It is quite possible to create the unique flavour of pho in Victoria, and vegans can take pleasure in a complete experience too.

The majority of variations depend on the style of preparation or ingredient availability. Egg noodles are used as a substitute for rice noodles. But the rice noodles are preferred due to their firmness and special texture. Regardless of the reputation and reception enjoyed by various variations, the conventional chicken pho and beef pho still are desired by diners, since they provide the original taste.
