A tempting desert that became a reason for me to travel!

Something shining, glossy, delicate and irresistible.

Yes! It is the Tirunelveli halwa. I am basically a dessert lover and have tried almost all delicious dessert but this is entirely tempting. I am glad in settled close to Tirunelveli district as we used to travel on weekends to Tirunelveli because of my crave for Iruttu Kadai halwa and Ghee Tirunelveli Halwa. There are plenty of other Halwa's like Sooji halwa, Badam Halwa, Carrot/Beetroot halwa and Calicut halwa but nothing can satisfy like Tirunelveli halwa.

They still preserve the authentic look of the store by brick, clay pot, cooked on firewood as this are couple of advantages that like layoff the usage of gas and another serve priceless lip-smacking dessert. This place is most of the time crowded all time, there used to be queue frequently for this sweetie dessert.

It owns my heart because of its soft reddish glazed richness; nuts to crumble with its unique consistent somewhat like jelly and more importantly they don't have preservatives like the usual desserts. Instead, it is made with Whole wheat, unadulterated ghee, sugar, thamirabarani water (the city dweller here believe it is this water that gives the taste and life), cashew, cardamom and saffron powder. These are the key ingredient used and cooked for almost 45 minutes, they have trained the staffs/chef and maintained hygienic really well, even though the store kitchen is undersized. There are other shops in and around the city that sell this delectable dessert. Like, Shanti Sweets, Kamdhenu sweets etc...

Tirunelveli halwa is easy to prepare at home since, there is very less and common healthy ingredients used in Tirunelveli Halwa unforgettably in cooking the taste it just don't happen with ingredients, we need the passion for cooking, time and patience with proper quantity to get the best quality and I am sure there are many home chefs who craft this brilliantly.

More over has the time passes by, my travel to Tirunelveli reduced because of the new technology, without depending on anyone to travel on weekend after work clogged or probably we don't have to spend time cooking at home as everything now enhanced to distinct level and became convenient and friendly. Most of the online websites deliver within two to three days direct from the kitchen, as fresh as it is with skillfully packed which can be stored for weeks but it is so obvious within a day it will get finished. They also deliver awesome deals. Ordering online is good and bad in many ways, the goodness is, its hassle free no traffic and no to stress. Obviously the bad is we don't get that feel of that standing in crowed and buying it, also the place.

So just don’t munch with the usual sweets rather discover something unusual and extra ordinary authentically from Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. Please be aware of not shopping from unauthorized dealers they might not be able to serve you original taste but looks almost perfect!
