Choose Weight Loss Shakes as a Healthy Option to Lose Weight

Posted by HealthyPlanet on September 9th, 2016

Weight loss shakes or ‘meal replacement’ shakes are quite popular with people who want to lose weight fast and safely. These shakes take the place of a regular meal. They are portable, quick, and super convenient. Most importantly, they are nutritious but low in calories, making them effective for those who either want to lose weight or stay in their current range.

If you’re constantly on the go, weight loss shakes are a great way to get the nutrients you need without having to actually sit down for a proper meal. These ‘eat and run’ products are portable and convenient. Many of them taste good, too. The best weight loss shakes are filled with vitamins, protein, fiber, and other essential ingredients for health. Of course, you need to choose a truly nutritious shake to reap the health benefits.

Are weight loss shakes good for you? If you are too busy to eat, a meal replacement shake might be a good choice. It is certainly healthier than a hotdog and fries (which might be your go-to food whenever you’re in a hurry).

These shakes can also aid in weight management. A 2010 study done by the University of Ulm found that obese people who used weight loss shakes lost more weight in one year compared to people who simply reduced their calorie intake without using these meal replacements. Drinking weight loss protein shakes may yield even better results as protein is believed to be more satiating than fats and carbohydrates.

Weight loss shakes also win in terms of convenience. Unlike full meals that take time to prepare and consume, shakes are more efficient. You can take them with you and take only a few minutes to prepare. In some cases, no preparation is involved. Are you always traveling or in a hurry? Weight loss shakes provide nutrients that will keep you feeling full, so drinking them is better than skipping meals entirely.

That said, you cannot survive on weight loss shakes alone. These meal replacements can’t give you all the nutritional components you will get from whole foods. This is why many dieticians and nutritionists suggest that for each time you choose to replace a full meal with a weight loss shake, you eat a low-calorie nutrient-packed snack—perhaps one serving of fruit salad or even some brown rice. Also keep in mind that you still need to exercise if you want to maintain your health. Weight loss shakes might help you drop a few kilos in the short term, but you might gain them back when you return to a regular diet and don’t exercise.
