Custom Poker Chips: The Who, What, How And Why

Posted by Nick Niesen on October 26th, 2010

Custom poker chips are a good gift to give to someone or a gift to buy for yourself. Why? Because you make them to suit your own taste. What are custom poker chips exactly? Simply, they are chips that will fit into your next game, because they are personalized to your club or group of friends. You can get them made for you; or if you have a bit of time on your hands, you can do-it-yourself.

Why would anyone want custom poker chips? Well, they make great gifts for other people. For example, if you are going to get married soon, instead of getting your groomsmen and ushers cuff links or something that they won?t ever use again? Why not give them custom poker chips to show your gratitude?

If you have a weekly poker game at your home, and it?s the same group of guys playing, you might want to get custom poker chips to show that you are a group. Or, if you are going to enter into a casual local tournament (or host your own), you might want to have custom poker chips to pass out and celebrate the event.

Wives and girlfriends never know what to get their guys for Christmas and their birthdays, so this is a great solution to getting bad presents. Just give her a hint on what you want your custom poker chips to say (otherwise they might say ?I love you snookie!?). Even better yet, design the chip with the artwork and wording and give it to her on a disk. That way she can give you exactly what you want, and you won?t get another sweater that you will never wear. You both can be happy.

How do you order custom poker chips? One way is to do-it-yourself. DIY is not as complicated as it sounds. So don?t worry, you aren?t going to be hovering over your printer printing out a thousand little stickers to place on your poker chips. Instead you are going to send a company your artwork and your wording, and they print the stickers professionally on paper that is meant for this purpose. They send you the stickers and you put them on the chips yourself. One advantage is that it isn?t 100% permanent. If you order the labels and don?t like how it looks, you can always change your mind and not put them on the chips. Another advantage is that it is cheaper than if you have someone else do the customization job for you.

The second method is to have a company do the work for you. In this case you design your chip, send them the artwork and the wording, and they send you back a set of custom poker chips that have your design permanently printed on them. The advantage of this is that it isn?t a label, and the work is all done for you. You don?t have to waste a lot of game time putting stickers on your chips. Your design is also more permanent, it will never scratch or wear off, because it isn?t a sticker or label: your design is part of the chip. This method is usually more expensive than buying the labels, but the look of it is definitely worth it.

The next time you want to commemorate a special occasion or buy a gift for someone who loves to play cards, consider a gift of custom poker chips. You can get them to suit any poker player?s taste and style, and custom poker chips won?t break the bank.
