Storage Space? Not a Problem!

If you are facing problem in storing your things, there are two possibilities -- either you have insufficient storage space or you have ineffective storage space. In the first case, you don't have much of a space to store your things. In the later case, you have enough space, but are not being able to use it properly. If you give it a thought you can find out many such spaces in your house that you will wonder why you didn't think of them before. But before that it is necessary to be sure that you have only those things with you that you actually need.

If you have a closet which has more than 2 walls, on one wall you can fix a rod at head height for long clothes and on the other wall, 2 rods, one below the other for short clothes, like shirts, skirts, etc. Shelves are mostly adjustable. If there is two-three inches space left above your clothes, you can adjust that shelf so as to make more space in the other shelf. Even you can add one more shelf there.

Storage units you can get from a house-wares or hardware store are great help in saving space. These include coffee tables which have concealed storage unit inside, under-bed containers to store bedding, racks for canned items which have arrangement to move the next can forward when you take out a can from it, and also spice racks. You can creatively use such great units.

You surely must have a lot of empty space on walls. You can make use of this space in a variety of ways. You can hang pots and pans on walls. Shelves for picture frames and show-pieces can be installed on walls.

Store those items you need everyday in a place where you use them. You must not walk to other room to get those items. E.g. store quilts and linens in the bedrooms, scissors near the sewing machine; if you have a home office too, you can store another pair of scissors there too.

You can get many sliding shelves or drawers that can be installed under a cabinet. These can be very useful if you don't have enough space for drawers.

You can rearrange your old setup. If you watch carefully, you may find some spaces in your home that you hardly use, or don't use at all. And you may find some spaces too, which you don't like the way they are used for. You can think of using the unused space for that purpose, no matter if it looks uncommon.

Here is a great idea to display your show-pieces if you don't have enough space to display them at a time. You can display some of them, and store the others; after some days, you can take out the stored ones for display, while the displayed items go to storage. Thus you can rotate the things and display them all.

These ideas will make your home neat and useful at the same time.
