Passion Fruit

Passion fruit is native to South America. It is also grown in greenhouses to boost its flavor. It is usually red in color but variations can exist, such as in India you might get to see them half green and half red and quite bulky in size. Passion fruits are used in juices to add extra flavor.

Dragon Fruit

Dragon fruit is known for its unusual color and laxative properties. These fruits can be found in Central and South America, also some countries in South Asia. Dragon fruits have a bright pink skin and sweet, creamy white flesh full of small black seeds.

Custard Apple

Custard Apple grows in Taiwan, India, and Africa and in other tropical forests around the world. It is also known as “bull’s heart”. The custard apple has long been used for its medicinal properties. The sweet-tasting is not the only useful part of this plant. Its leaves can be used to make stain or dyes and the bark and the fruits can be used for healing purposes.

African Cucumber

African cucumber has a lot of names. It is known as kiwano, African horned cucumber, hedged gourd or jelly melon. It is native to Africa, but it also grows in California, Chile, Australia, and New Zealand. In California, it is widely known as Blowfish fruit. It is edible but it is mostly used as decoration fruit.

Ackee

Ackee is Jamaica’s national fruit. This fruit was imported to Jamaica from West Africa before 1778. Since then it has become a major feature of various Caribbean cuisines. Ackee is also cultivated in tropical and subtropical areas all over the world.

Tamarillo

Tamarillo is known as the popular sibling of the regular tomato. It is paler and burnt in color with distinctively shaped seeds in the middle when you slice it in half. This fruit grows in Ecuador, Peru, and Colombia and tastes like passion fruit. It is used in making juices and in certain parts of Bolivia it is used in cooking, especially to make sauces.

Mangosteen

These are the ‘queen of Thai fruit’ with their elegant, segmented white-flesh inside a thick large purple peel. They grow in the South and the season lasts just for few months of the year. If you ever get a chance to visit Thailand then don’t forget to taste this delicious sweet fruit.

Durian

Durian is well-known fruit in Southeast Asia. It is also known as ‘The King of Fruits'. It is known for its thorny husk and very large size.

Star Fruit

The Starfruit is native to Southeast Asia. It is also known as the carambola fruit. It can grow on any tropic place all over the world. It is rich in antioxidant and vitamin C and low in sugar, sodium, and acid. It is a good diet fruit.

Buddha’s Hand

This fruit is citron variety whose fruit is segmented into finger-like sections. Buddha's hand grows in Asia, usually on a shrub or on a small tree on the thorny branches. You can use it in a variety of salads and other cooked fruit.
