Benefits of Protein Rich Food

Proteins are the building blocks of our body. These are important components of our body that provide strength and support to human body. Consumption of protein rich food is essential for the proper growth and functioning of our body. Protein is the major part of our muscles, nervous system, glands and organs. Protein rich food are also good in weight loss management.

Some of the protein rich food are as follows:

  1. Fish and other seafoods: Fish is a high protein containing food. It is also low in carbohydrates, thus helps in reducing weight. Fish and seafood are considered an excellent source of protein.
  2. Milk, Cheese and Other Dairy Products: Dairy products are also good source of protein. These are also rich in calcium and vitamin D.these are important for bone development, improving immunity and for strong teeth.
  3. Mushroom: Mushrooms are high protein containing food.
  4. Legumes: Legumes such as pulses (chickpea, lentils, green peas, etc) and beans (kidney bean and soybean) are rich source of protein and vegetarians generally derive their protein intake from these plant products. These are high in protein and fibers but low in carbohydrates.
  5. Eggs: Eggs are rich in protein and can be consumed on daily basis. These also contain iron, vitamin D and B, zinc, copper, etc.
  6. Nuts or Dry fruits: Nuts such as cashews, almonds, pistachios are good protein source.
  7. Vegetables: Some vegetables are good sources of protein such as broccoli, asparagus, spinach, etc. vegetables are lower in carbohydrate content and help in weight loss.

Other animal products such as lean chicken, lean meat, beef and pork are always considered as high protein containing food. Consumption of protein rich food as breakfast keeps us fuller and satisfied throughout the day. Protein rich diet is important to be consumed during pregnancy and childhood.
