Texas Charity for Pancreatic Cancer Survival

The pancreas regulates blood sugar and helps in digestion, making it a vital organ in the body. Pancreatic cancer has the highest mortality rate in the United States of America. Statistics have shown that almost 94% of pancreatic cancer patients die within five years of diagnosis, while 74% die soon after being diagnosed with the disease. Only 6% of the population survives for more than five years.

Foundations and charities have seen the need to change these statistics. The ultimate goal of a Texas pancreatic cancer foundation is to find a method for early detection and eventually a cure for pancreatic cancer.

Here are roles played by Texas charities in ensuring the survival of those diagnosed with pancreatic cancer:

•    Aside from research and investigation, foundations also work towards raising awareness about the symptoms and the risks of pancreatic cancer. November is the month of Pancreatic Cancer Awareness, and it is celebrated as foundations spread the knowledge and understanding about pancreatic cancer and ways to prevent the disease.

•    Even with the development and enhancement of treatments, there has not been much success because the pancreatic cancer diagnosis is often found when it is at a later stage, making it hard to treat. The Texas pancreatic cancer charitable organizations and foundations try to restore hope and faith for people in Texas that pancreatic cancer treatment and a cure is possible.

•    Cancer foundations are helping to fund research on the treatment and cure of pancreatic cancer. Innovative treatments like proton therapy and other targeted therapies are undergoing development and improvement to come up with better ways of fighting pancreatic cancer.

•    Texas pancreatic cancer foundations help patients to take part in clinical trials to examine newtreatments. The foundations help fund these trials through donations from the public and charities.

In order for them to make a difference towards eradicating pancreatic cancer, foundations welcome donations that will help fund the research for the cure of this disease.
