Dental pain and decay is the most common these days. The idea of dentist is the most feared, but this may end soon. British scientists have invented tooth filler that remains valid and effective for life. This is a revolution in dental care.

Dental filler is used in the place of caries or the disintegration in parts of the teeth to compensate for the vacuum or to eliminate the causes of pain and keep the rest of the teeth.

There are 4 different types of tooth fillers that vary according to each case and include:

1 - The golden fillers

The golden fillers are able to stay in the teeth for at least 10 - 15 years without being damaged or rust, in addition to its strength and hardness that bear chewing. The beauty of its appearance makes the patient feels more comfortable when it compared to other materials such as silver fillers.

Disadvantages of golden filler:

It is ten times the price of the silver filling.

The patient may face a kind of electric shock due to the placement of a gold filling near the silver filling. The interaction occurs between the minerals and saliva causing an electrical current, severe pain and trauma to the patient.

Some patients feel that the presence of any substance contrary to the color of natural teeth is not good appearance to the eye.

2- The silver filling:

The silver filler can remain at least 10 to 15 years of age. It is better than the artificial filler, in addition to its strength and hardness. Its defects enable the patient to feel good as he feels the rest of the natural teeth. It also destroys part of the normal dental structure. The patient has to remove parts of the healthy tooth to leave enough space to put the silver filling.

It has a defect. It changes in the colors to light gray due to the presence of silver fillings. It shrinks and stretches during the presence of hot and cold liquids leads to many cracks and broken teeth.

3. White filling or laser filling:

The white filling is similar to the color of the primary teeth, so it can be placed in the front teeth, or in the visible parts of the teeth. Its chemical bond with the basic dental structure increases the tooth support.

Disadvantages of white filling:

 It loses its hardness. It is not remain more than 5 years. It couldn’t bear chewing pressure, especially when it is used in the filling of cavities major. It requires several visits to follow-up with the doctor.

4-Other types of tooth filling:

Ceramic

It is mostly made of porcelain. It is more resistant to pigment. It remains for more than 15 years. It costs more than the cost of gold fillers.

The glass structure

It is made of acrylic and a special type of glass. This material is used more commonly in filling under the gums and fillings of children. It consists of fluoride, which helps to protect teeth from decay.
