There are many air conditioners that have a filter of about 1-4 MERV while other have a MERV value of up to 8. If you use too strong filters, you also put your air conditioner at risk.


Before you go out purchasing an air filter, it is better to ask for suggestions from the HVAC professionals. As there are many damages that could happen with the wrong air filters, the worst that could happen is a complete breakdown of your air conditioning system.

Though they are economical but they are not at all meant for homeowners who have respiratory problems. They are no good when it comes to improving the quality of air in the home. On the other hand, there are high efficiency filters that work the best for the ones who have allergies and breathing difficulties. Undoubtedly these filters are more expensive because of the added privileges they come with. The air filters protect the system as well as filter small particles better than any other low priced air filters.


So, by now you must have realized how the wrong air filters can affect your home. It can even lead to the breakdown of the entire system. The filters are to be replaced on a regular basis. You have to understand that a filter is meant to block particles and if they are clogged, the air flow is reduced which strains the system.
