Playwright Christopher Demos-Brown’s “American Son” is about an undeniable truth that we all know but nobody wants to confront it. it’s been taking place in our society for more than a decade and no one dare say anything about it nor steps up to rid that problem. It’s about racism, indifference based on color and so more. Discounted American Son Tickets are on sale now at Tickets4musical.com.

The play starts at a Miami police station’s waiting room on a dark and rainy morning where a troubled mother, Kendra Ellis-Connor (Kerry Washington), a psychology teacher paces back and forth in anguish, for she has had no contact, with her 18-year-old son Jamal who had went out in his car and has not returned till now. If you want to see this show live the chances are rare as tickets for these plays get sold out quick. But no worries tickets4musical still has Discounted American Son Tickets on sale. The police officer on duty do not spill anything about his whereabouts and delay her request to find him as soon as possible.

Jamal has not replied to any of her messages or calls leaving Kendra’s mind cooking up every bad scenario that her son could be in and is restless thinking he might be in a huge trouble. She has taught her son from the very beginning that the world he lives in is his too and that if he works hard he will get the same opportunities as others in the future. She fears that the truth has surfaced his ugly head out and his son might after knowing the truth has done something stupid.

She has been separated from her husband Steven Connor (Steven Pasquale) 4 month before, who is A FBI Agent and wears his shield visibly on his belt every time. Steven may also be worried for his son but he isn’t as frantic as Kendra. The worries and turmoil she is going through is visible on Washington’s face. The way she expresses every little worry is praiseworthy. Want to see her in action? Buy the American Son Tickets right now! Kenny Leon’s direction is also undoubtly the best along with Derek McLane’s Set design that sends a chills every now and then and Peter Kaczorowski’s lighting makes the whole situation stand out more. But no doubt that Washington’s Kendra was the highlight of the show. You can read all her thoughts on his face clearly anxious for her son. She knows that life can be hard for a young black man in this world no matter how well he was brought up and taught. No matter what is his background if he is black

trouble will find its way into his life sooner or later. Get American Son Tickets at Tickets4Musical and go watch his brilliant play with your own two eyes. She can see racism wherever she looks and that may be true to some extent. You can vividly see signs of discrimination when the same police officer that zipped their lips tight start digging out information as soon as Steven walks in. May be because he is white and cedar Kendra was black.

Jamal does not show up till the end but the story revolves around him and his troubled parents. You can only guess that his parent’s breakup may have moved him to such a thing as to run off in his car. Plays like these hardly make any place in the Broadway world but American Son has distinguish itself from others. The play does not practically has a story line but has perfectly voiced out the social racial discrimination evident in our day to day lives.

If you are not offended by the fact that there really is racism in our society the play will enter your soul. Go and watch how these circumstances are effecting our society.
